I’m so excited to announce this today!
If you live somewhere in the vicinity of Northeast Kansas – or if you happen to be passing through after Thanksgiving – I have an invitation for you!
We are having the first ever Open House at Needle ‘n Thread this year, to kick off the pre-Christmas season. And we can’t wait!
I’ll tell you a little more down below…
At last, the news has come in from the contractor that, yes! The front wall of our building will be finished before Thanksgiving! We’ve been waiting and waiting for this news, because we really wanted to do something special and different at Needle ‘n Thread this holiday season.
And now that we know we will have a new front door to welcome you, we can issue an invitation.
For two weekends during the pre-Christmas season, Needle ‘n Thread will be hosting an open house, with refreshments, a small needlework market, and lots of holiday cheer!
Our little needlework market will include embroidery kits, supplies, fabric, tools, and books that we have here in the studio. We’ll have a few bits and bobs available that aren’t normally on the website, too.
And of course, we have some surprises up our sleeves. We must do give-aways and door prizes and what-have-you!
There’s More to Do, Too!
Our little town is quite festive during the holidays, and there are other fun things for you to do, if you can make it in for a visit.
For example, we have a fun and fabulous Christmas tree lot – Town Square Trees – set up right across the street from Needle ‘n Thread. You’ll find the prettiest real Christmas trees in NE Kansas there, brought down freshly cut from Wisconsin twice each season. They’re gorgeous!
Each year, we have an enchanting Christkindl Market nestled in the woods on the Flint Hills Shakespeare Festival grounds. The Christkindl Market is steadily growing and has already become a destination spot. You can read more about it here on the Flint Hills Shakespeare Festival website and here on their Facebook page.
We have other local events that take place during the two weekends after Thanksgiving, including a local holiday bazaar, a Christmas parade, a gingerbread house competition at the deli next door to Needle ‘n Thread – as well as unique shops like 37 Pine (gifts and home decor), Florence Adams (boutique clothing for women); My Kansas Jungle (plant market), Sugar Creek Country Store (bulk foods, candy, deli counter, and more); and more.
I’ll share more details about our Open House soon. Needless to say, we’ll be working hard to get the studio back in order after construction – and it might not be perfect yet, but we’ll do our best to have a festive, hospitable atmosphere ready and waiting for you.
If you’re in the vicinity, mark your calendars!
I hope you can stop in and say howdy!
Wish I could come but I’m on the other side of the pond. Best wishes to you all and please keep us posted on how everything goes.
Wish I could be there! I hope you have fun. 🙂
I bet you will be SO happy to have the store construction finished. Not only for the light & view – I bet it’s also not insulated. And maybe not mouse-proof and insect proof either, as those critters look for warm places to hide for winter.
The open house sounds lovely, wish I were closer. Although… a drive to see your store and town, plus stops at a couple quilt museums would make a nice little pre-holiday vacation.
Oooooh! That would be exciting! If you decide to come, give me a heads-up!! 🙂
We haven’t had a problem with critters – everything is boarded up pretty darned tight. But yes, the lack of natural light – and the lack of a view – are rather trying. I find it very difficult to work here now, without light and a window to the outside world. :-/
Oh, how lovely. Thank you for being so generous this Christmas season and throughout the year. Watch what you wish for though … our little town of Rochester, MI is now inundated with mobs of people during the Christmas season!
I wish I could come!! Maybe we will consider that as a Christmas adventure!
From Mississippi.
