Well, well, well. Who would’ve ever guessed it? I had to re-draw for one of the Inspirations Magazines subscription winners from the 12 Days of Christmas!
The original winner of one of the free year’s subscription to Inspirations was Joyce Foss, who was planning on gifting the subscription to a stitching friend. She and her friend, however, preferred for it to go instead to someone who will take full advantage of all that Inspirations offers, and so that lead to drawing a new name from the entries on the Twelfth Day of Christmas give-away.
Without further ado…
The new winner is ChrisTea (Christy), and I’m just waiting to hear back from her. If I don’t hear from her, I suppose we will have to draw again. With 1,147 folks to draw from, we’re bound to hit on someone who jumps at the chance to receive a free year of Inspirations Magazine, right?!
In the meantime, don’t forget that the 20% discount for Needle ‘n Thread readers on subscriptions to Inspirations ends in two weeks! If you’re interested in taking advantage of that before the opportunity passes, see the advertisement in the left sidebar on Needle ‘n Thread for more details on that.
Tomorrow, I’ll be showing you a trick to make cutting linen on the thread of the cloth a bit easier. There are a few other bits and doodads lined up for the week, too, including a new project debut, along with answering your planning and technique questions about the Medallion project and some further progress on that one. I’ve had a few queries about workspace questions and several questions about time and project management, but I’m always a bit hesitant to delve into commentary on those subjects, as I’m afraid I’d put you to sleep! Any thoughts?
Wishing you the beginning of a fabulous week – and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Mary,
I’m sure you will get a winner for the magazine subscription.
Meanwhile, on your other topics, I’m interested in hearing about your time & project management. Another friend and I were talking this weekend, marveling at all you accomplish, including this newsletter.
Everyone works differently, especially since for most of us stitching is a secondary activity (notice I’m not saying “hobby”!). Hearing about how other people work gives me ideas that may help me do more, so, sure, I’d love to hear how you do it.
You would NEVER put us to sleep Mary, no matter what you choose to discuss. I’m sure there are lots of us who want suggestions on how to manage our time better. Go for it, girl!!
JoanneP–I think she is a Doctor Who companion who got away with a tiny version of the Tardis…she goes in, stitches for a week, takes all her pictures, types up a bunch of posts, comes out the same day she went in, and presto! She’s WAY ahead of us….!
I’d love to know how she REALLY does it, though.
I would like to see something about your workspace organization. It wouldn’t put me to sleep. I haven’t read anything you have written that wasn’t interesting. BTW, when will you be having registration for the Nesting Place? I’m looking forward to it!
Well, thanks all – my work space is a complete MESS right now. Still haven’t gotten Christmas stuff back up into the attic and I’ve got kitting (for the Nesting Place) going on, too, so … wow. It’s a wreck. Well, I won’t make any promises – as my Mom always said, “We’ll see….” I don’t mind showing the mess so much – but trying to explain what everything is, is another question!
Vivian – Thanks for asking about the NP class. The Nesting Place registration should be announced before the end of this month. I’m still awaiting the arrival of a couple little items for the kits, and I don’t want to announce registration until the kits are complete and ready to mail.

I waited eagerly until Jan 11th, and when I did not win, I placed my order for a year of Inspirations magazine at the discount price. Now I find I had another chance at it. Either way, I won, because Inspirations is coming my way for another year. Thanks for the generous offer, Mary and Country Bumpkin–this is the gift that will keep on giving all year long.
I would like to join the folks who are curious about your work-space, and to learn a little aoubt how other people have their spaces set up for stitching, storage, design etc.I am always looking for great storage ideas. We have a small house and I try to use my space to its best advantage.
PS. I grabbed the offer to get Country Bumpkin at a discount…thanks for the chance!

Oh, when I saw you were drawing again, I got so excited maybe I won. Christy, I am sure you will be delighted with the magazine, I would be!
Mary do you do any smocking? I am interested in making smocked simple dresses for the local neonatal unit of the hospital. I believe the smocking guild calls them “Wee Care” dresses. Just wondering what a good beginner smocking book would be. I have just bought the pleater, so I am ready to go! Just need to know how.

Mary,
Because of the discount I finally took the plunge and subscribed to Inspirations. I’ve received the first two issues and couldn’t be more pleased!
The projects are beautiful and I’ve looked at them over and over.
When I get discourged at my progress, they make me remember why I wanted to take up embroidery again.
Thanks so much.
