Trish Burr Butterflies! A Give-Away!

Amazon Books

Spring is coming!

Ok. I realize this is a relative statement. But by virtue of the fact that every day, no matter where we live, brings us a little closer to the next spring, I can legitimately say “Spring is coming!”

So, Spring is coming! And to celebrate, here are some Beautiful Butterflies!

Trish Burr Butterflies

Each of these three needlepainting kits by Trish Burr feature a bright, vivid butterfly and blossoms, worked in long and short stitch shading.

The kits include everything you need to stitch the design (pre-printed fabric, complete instructions, and embroidery needles), except the threads. A complete DMC and Anchor thread list is included in each kit.

Trish Burr Butterflies

This one’s my favorite! The African Red Butterfly. *Sigh.* It’s just so red. And it has strawberries on it. I love this kit!

Trish Burr Butterflies

And then we have this vivid Adonis Blue Butterfly, with its blue wings that look as if they are floating on the fabric.

Trish Burr Butterflies

And finally, the Orange Butterfly & Blossom – a beautiful fire orange, with dark tips – just lovely!

Courtesy of Trish Burr, I’m giving away all three kits, which means that three of you have a chance to win one of them! This is a great opportunity to advance your long and short stitch skills, or even, for the determined beginner, to give long and short stitch shading a try.

Give-Away Guidelines

If you’d like to enter today’s Give-Away, please follow these simple guidelines:

1. Leave a comment below (on this article on Needle ‘n Thread, not via reply e-mail or on any other post on the website), answering the following question:

Which butterfly of the three above do you like best?

2. In your comment (either in the large box where you write the comment, or in the “name” line on the comment form), please make sure you leave a recognizable name.

3. Eligible comments must be submitted before 5:00 am CST (that’s in Kansas, USA) Friday, February 1, 2013. I’ll announce the three winners that day, and they will need to contact me with a mailing address, so make sure you check back on Friday to see if you’re one of the lucky winners!

And that’s it – pretty simple!

So, if you’re ready to kick up your needlepainting skills a bit, or you’re just bonkers over butterflies, join the fun, before the opportunity… uh…. flutters away!

  1. Ann Moran from the UK here – I have been wanting a Trish Burr kit for ages. I love the blue butterfly. Blue, black and grey are some of my favourite colours.

    1
  2. When my sister and I were little girls, my parents painted my grandmother’s room orange. It was a very pale pretty orange, but none of us could understand how orange could be her favorite color. 35 years later, orange is a favorite color for both of us (what goes around comes around). So, I will vote for the orange butterfly, although all three of them are perfect and beautiful!

  3. I’m not about to let one of these flutter away. I would love to add a butterfly to the slowly growing collection of completed needlework projects. The first framed embroidery piece that my Grandma made for me would have friend in our family room. So, in chosing one, I would go with the Orange Butterfly and Blossom to create a set. Good luck to everybody and a big thank you to Mary and Trish for the giveway and excitement that goes with it.

    4
  4. The The African Red Butterfly is my favourite. The flowers and strawberries are all in the right place and complement the butterfly really well. I like the 3D look of the Adonis Blue Butterfly though so I might think about implementing this in a Red one.

    5
  5. I love the blue butterfly!

I was tickled to learn that you are in Kansas! My parents are both from there and it is where I did my first stitching with my grandmothers.

Thanks for so many days of beautiful needlework to admire and learn from.

    6
  6. Oh, how beautiful! I love the blue butterfly best. They are all gorgeous but right now, blue is a top favorite color. Thanks Mary and thanks Trish for this great giveaway!

  7. Hi Mary,

I like Adonis Blue butterfly, best though all 3 of them are adorable. Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. Hi,

My choice is Adonis. I think the blues are really captivating. And it would look great in my baby’s nursery (baby is arriving at the end of Feb).

  9. The orange butterfly would be my choice. I have fallen in love with needlepainting and enrolled in Margaret’s Strawberry class in order to learn shading, one of the major weakness in my needle skills. I stitch a lot of reproduction samplers and many have sections of freehand which includes shading like this.

    11
  10. I love the red one! I just can`t get enough of red. And I just want one of her kits so badly! lol

    12
  11. These butterflies are beautiful and have just reminded me of two pictures that my grandmother had of red admiral butterflies that I used to look at and admire as a child. Thank you for the few moments I have had reminiscing of both my grandmother (who I fondly miss) and her beautiful butterfly pictures! Happy stitching everyone.

    13
  12. I LOVE butterflies!! I’m forever trying to get them to come to my garden. I like the red one because it also has my favourite fruit with it…the strawberry.

    15
  13. The Adonis (blue) butterfly is my favorite. Blue is my color. Trish Burr does amazing books that outline her method. Would love to win this. Thank you.

    16
  14. They are beautiful and it is so kind of you to offer them as gifts to the lucky winners. I prefer the Red because of the strawberries. My favourite colour of butterfly is blue so I would be tickled to win either one. I have been making a wall hanging/quilt top called Tree of Life with Butterflies for over four years and it will have butterflies (of course) with embroidery and stumpwork strawberries on it – when it is finished. They would be pleased to have an embroidery piece from Trish hanging with them. thanks so much helen

    17
  15. Trish Burr does AMAZING work with needle and thread, and her book and kits are incredibly beautiful and clearly written.
I love the BLUE butterfly the most, but all three are gorgeous.
Thanks for running a contest for the chance to win one of these kits!

    19
  16. I have to agree with the you – the African red butterfly but it’s a very close call. I would be delighted with any one of them. Trish Burr is such a lovely gracious lady.

    21
  17. I love butterflies, I love strawberries, and I love flowers, but if I have to pick, red is always my favorite color. And I keep studying Trish Burr’s book and trying to make my thread painting look passable.

    22
  18. I love the red one! Plus, it has strawberries which are the favorite of my daughter-in-law. I plan to stitch it for her.

    23
  19. Love the orange butterfly and the flower!
    Looks very real.
This kind of stitch work would be something new for me.

    24
  20. The African red butterfly is my favourite. No contest. Red always wins! The other two are lovely, but not as red 🙂

I haven’t tried a kit by Trish yet, although I have two of her books. Her shading is so artistically done.

Jannat (on holiday on 1st Feb, so if I win, give me till 8th Feb to respond, please)

    25
  21. These butterflies are gorgeous. I love the shading that makes them almost luminescent. The orange butterfly is my favorite, but really hard to choose, they’re all gorgeous. I follow via email.

    26
  22. Because my dearest friend ever is 85 and absolutely loves blue – it would have to be the Adonis Blue. I would think of her everytime I looked at it!

    28
  23. I love all those beautiful butterflies and would so like to have the opportunity to try to do one, I have never done thread painting but I have a friend d who could help me if I got stuck. Like you the red one is my favourite but think they are all so perfect. Trish Burr is so clever I have admired her work for a long time.

    29
  24. Trish Burr, I salute you. These designs are so special because of Trish`s really clever use of bright colours, blended with a delicate touch. Clever clever clever designs. Love them, especially the orange 🙂

    30
  25. Oh what a beautiful way to welcome Spring! I think I would love the Orange one….we have so many orange trees here in Arizona and the orange blossom fragrance gets mighty strong. I have not tried needle painting and this would be nice to try.

    31
  26. I love the orange butterfly and blossom. It makes me think of my little cat and her vibrant coat. She is very ill at the moment and never far from my thoughts.

Thank you for this giveaway Mary. I look forward to reading your website every day.

    32
  27. I love the colours in the orange blossom and butterfly, so that would be my favourite. Thank you for such a lovely giveaway, these are wonderful kits

    33
  28. I think they are all very pretty but I have to say that I love the Orange one with that pretty blossom is the one that seems to say look at me!

    34
  29. Hello Mary,

Thank you, once again, for a chance to win one of your wonderful give-aways!!

I would love to work the Adonis Blue Butterfly. It’s such a beautiful piece.

    Best wishes to you.

    35
  30. The blue butterfly is just wonderful! It reminds me summer in blue: blue sky, blue flowers, blue dress, blue dreams… Peaceful and just wonderful!

    36
  31. A wonderful chance to learn, to practise beautiful thread painting from master embroiderer Trish Burr, to have a chance to stitch the glorious African Red Butterfly and delicious strawberries complete with their blossoms…if only i could be sooooo lucky !

    39
  32. Good Morning Mary!
    Great give-a-way! WOW!
I love the red butterfly; her colours are stunning and the shading is exquisite! I have been dreaming of learning Trish Burr’s techniques!
    Happy Spring!
    Danielle

    40
  33. Ooh, I love Trish Burr – I normally say ‘I don’t do kits’ but for any of these I’d be MORE than happy to make an exception. My favourite is the Adonis Blue because we have them in the UK, although they’re becoming increasingly rare, so it would be nice to commemorate them in such a beautiful picture. (Also, I realise from my current embroidery disaster that I’m sorely in need of a small project to practice my hand stitching on!)

    41
  34. Wow, each of those kits set my heart a-flutter but I like the Orange Butterfly & Blossom kit the best due to the colors in the butterfly’s wings.

    43
  35. I love the Trish Burr kits and books and have been wanting one for some time! I love the orange butterfly best I think. The Dogwood Blossom is our state flower here in Virginia.

    I’m crossing my fingers! X X

    44
  36. It’s so hard to choose because I love them all, but I think the orange butterfly would be my first choice. Thanks for the chance to win one of these beautiful kits.

    46
  37. That was tough- all 3 are lovely…but if forced to choose, it’s the beautiful Adonis Blue Butterfly…

    Elizabeth Mac from Saskatoon

    47
  38. Ever since I was small I love the colour blue, in all its shades. And no suprise, the blue butterfly attracted me immediately. And I’ve never done any needlepainting, so it would be my first attempt. What better than a Trish Burr kit to do that with….! Thank you and Trish for this chance to win something wonderful like this.

    48
  39. They are all beautiful. It’s hard to pick a favorite. I think the orange one would go best in my house. I’m moving from the warm South East to Northern Minnesota so I’m sure I could use a little spring cheer! Mrs. Burr and you are such beautifully gifted individuals. Thank you, both!

    49
  40. Picking my favourite among these three is like picking a chocolate from my favourite box. I love them all. I think the Blue one might be my favourite, just because it floats so nicely and the blues are beautiful. but then again, I do like those strawberries on the red one.

    50
  41. I like all the butterflies, but the red one is my favorite. It’s such a vibrant red!

    Thank you for the opportunity!

    51
  42. I like the orange one the best. Really, I like them all but the orange one is so different. I can see them all framed on the wall together.

    Thanks for the great blog.

    Melody in VA

    52
  43. I have been meaning to make an embroidered butterfly pin for my daughter in law…this would be a great motivator! I would pick the Red AfricanButterfly en souvenir of my life in Africa! Thank you for all you do. Jackie

    54
  44. Hi Mary,
Please consider me for one of these beautiful utterly kits. I think all are beautiful, but I am quite partial to the blue butterfly. I would like rotary needle painting and this little blue butterfly would be just enough to get me to try this form of needle craft. I have done surface embroidery, and cross stitch for many years and recently tried my hand at some gold work. I am trying to expand my needlework skills. Hope I win. I have just the place for this regal butterfly.
Thank you Mary, and thank you Trish.

    55
  45. Love butterflies, espically the Red one with strawberrys. My niece lost her baby 2 1/2 months of age. She remembers her with butterflies. I would stitch this beautiful Red butterfly and give it to her.

    57
  46. I love the orange butterfly! Orange is one of my favorite colors and the blossom looks like dogwood which is one of my favorite trees.

    58
  47. The blue butterfly kit is to die for. The brillance of blue is incredible. All I can say is I love it.

    59
  48. I was just looking at these designs this morning and wishing I had the kits. All are beautiful, but my favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. Thank you for such a great giveaway opportunity!

    60
  49. Wonderful giveaway!! I think the Orange Butterfly is gorgeous – of course all three of them are gorgeous but I am partial to orange!!

    63
  50. I am a big fan of Trish Burr’s books and kits. I love the blue butterfly, in part for the reason you mentioned, Mary. It has a 3D effect in seeming to float above the fabric.

    64
  51. I just bought several of Trish Burr’s book because I want to try needle painting. I love the Adonis Blue butterfly, blue is my favourite colour and that butterfly is so vivid.

    66
  52. Hi Mary,
Thanks for sharing these Trish Burr kits! I love them all, but I think my favorite is the Orange Butterfly & Blossom. The shading on the wings is exquisite and would be a great way to practice the needle painting technique. The yellow/orange/red/brown combination reminds me of fall here in Vermont.

    Have a wonderful day!
    Barb Aldrich

    67
  53. Oh, I love the orange butterfly the best & am so happy for the opportunity to win one of these kits. Thanks you.

    68
  54. What could be better than butterflies in spring. They are all three just beautiful, but if I had to make a choice, I would pick the blue one.
Thank you Mary, and Trish for the opportunity.

    69
  55. I love the African Red Butterfly. The red is so vibrant along with strawberries and strawberry flowers (my favorite symbol of summer). Trish’s designs are just beautiful.

    72
  56. All three butterflies are just gorgeous, it is hard to say which one is my favorite. But if I had to pick, I think it would be the Adonis Blue butterfly, because his wings just seem to be glowing with light.

I love Trish Burr’s needlepainting! Her work is exquisite.

    73
  57. Oh I love the Adonis Blue Butterfly! The color just calls to me. Thank you for the chance to win this wonderful kit.

    74
  58. Ah! beautiful butterflies. And don’t worry about the threads, I probably have them all since I have started to learn Trish Burr’s long & short method a while ago. Making a choice is heartbreaking but I choose the Orange butterfly because it resembles the very familiar “Monarch”. Reading your newsletter is always a great pleasure.

    75
  59. Beautiful!!! Love all three, but I’ll pick Adonis Blue. I would love to have one of Trish Burr’s kits. I love hand embroidery. My favorites are hummingbirds and butter flies. I sit at night watching TV and working on a embroidery quilt squares that one day will be a quilt for me. Thank you,

    Sally Miller

    76
  60. Hi Mary I tried the long short stitch with tast last year would love the Blue butterfly kit so that I could have try again with needle painting.

    77
  61. Love all 3 butterfly colors since there isn’t a purple one! But I’ll go for the strawberries, one of my favorite fruits!

    78
  62. Wow this is difficult to determine. I love them all.
I guess I will say the blue appeals most today. (Probably tomorrow I will choose the red)

    79
  63. These are so beautiful. Choosing one is tough. I am a strawberry fan also so I think I love it the most. The Monarch is definitely running a close second. Where do you find all these wonderful things!?

    Patti Dagg

    81
  64. I should be extremely happy to receive the last of the three – my elderly mother (94 in February) loves orange blossom, and it would be lovely to be able to give her such a lovely gift – once stitched and framed of course!

    82
  65. I love all of them ,but the Blue Adonis is my fav. Its iridescence is simply captivating and can be captured using lovely silk threads.

    83
  66. I love the blue butterfly. It really does just seem to float on the fabric. I have really wanted to try one of these forever! Thanks for the awesome give away!
    -Heather in Chicago

    84
  67. Dear Mary

The red butterfly is my favourite. It is so vibrant and I simply love embroidering luscious strawberries.

As you say, Spring is on the way and the buddlia will soon be out and covered in beautiful butterflies. The Red Indians (or more correctly (indiginous Americans) think that butterflies are the souls of people that have gone before. That’s a nice thought, I wouldn’t mind being a butterfly after I’ve passed on!

    85
  68. I absolutely love the blue butterfly. I like that it has the blueberries with the flower, I’m used to seeing strawberries usually. Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits! All of the butterflies are beautiful of course, but the blue has my favor.

    86
  69. I would like the Adonis Blue butterfly. There is something that is so peaceful to me about the colors. I would love to be able to work on this!

    87
  70. Oh my goodness! I love to try one of Trish Burr’s needlepainting set. My choice would be the orange butterfly and blossom kit. My favorite color are mauve, red, orange and rust. I have been playing with various embroidery stitches and learning different skills. I would love to learn how to needlepaint. The beauty of the design created from the magic of using just floss and various needlework.

    89
  71. Thank you Mary Corbet, for inspiring me to stitch again. I am 56 years old and have not stitched since age 19. I now have my 60 year old sister into it. I love your website and your videos have taught me many stitches. I am still not where I need to be with proficiency, but I am trudging along. I would love to attempt to stitch the butterflies for my 91 year old Dad who just moved to Panama, the country!! I miss him so, and I think these butterflies would be a cheerful awakening every morning. Thanks again. kim

    90
  72. I am watching the ice form on the branches outside my window and imagine the beautiful blue butterfly ushering in spring.
Your site has inspired me to skill myself in this beautiful art form. I am on the backside of 60 now and am like a 5 year old, curious about all of it and so excited to know you are never too old and it is never too late to learn.
Thanks for such an incredible format to become educated and skilled. I start my morning with you and then have my “class time” with a video session. I will be checking in more often now. This is my very first time ever commenting to anyone on line.

    91
  73. I love them all but the blue butterfly is my favourite. It is a great opportunity to win one of Thrish Burr butterfly’s
    Love from the Netherlands

    92
  74. OOPS!! Got carried away and forgot to say which butterfly is the most beautiful!! Hard to say, but I’ll go with the blue one. lovely.

    93
  75. Be still my beating heart! Oh my, they are just gorgeous. I absolutely love, covet, and adore the blue butterfly. But truthfully, I would be so happy to have any of them. Please, please enter my in this awesome giveaway!

    94
  76. I love the orange butterfly! Here ia Ventura, CA, we witness the migration of the Monarch Butterflies. It is a beautiful site. I would love to try my hand at short and long stitching. Caroline W.

    96
  77. They are all so beautiful, but the blue one really caught my eye right away! Thank you for the reminder of spring!

    97
  78. Each of them is so beautiful it is a very difficult decision to decide which one is my favorite. I love the color blue but I think I will choose the red one.

    99
  79. Love all of them but got to say that the African Red is my favorite. It is so bright and cheerful. I have never done any of the needle painting but I would love the chance to try. Thank you for a great giveaway.

    101
  80. I love the orange butterfly! But the others are nice too – but I am not so into primary colors.

I always try to do needlepainting, but my efforts never live up to Trish Burr’s efforts. Perhaps another attempt will make me a master!

    102
  81. Oh so pretty in orange and blue and red! Trish Burr is amazing in her detail but since you are forcing me to choose, I think I must go with the Orange Butterfly. I love the graduation of color from pale yellow to vibrant orange/red. Although the strawberries were very tempting in the African Red.

    103
  82. Oh they are all so lovely. I would have to pick “African Red”. She is not my favorite, but I do have to pick one, so red it is.

    104
  83. Hi Mary, Thanks for the great give-away! I have bene itching to try some of Trish’s work (bought the books, read the books, re-read the books) and this would spur me on! I love the blue butterfly the most, although they are all beautiful. I actually chose the blue because it is a bit outside my usual comfort zone (RED!)

Thanks again, for the give-away and for the thought that spring is coming!

    Dale

    105
  84. The blue butterfly is lyrical but red is my signature color and strawberries my favorite fruit so my heart says red is best!

    106
  85. They are all so beautiful but my favourite is the red butterfly. Thanks for the chance to win one!

    107
  86. They look like the will flutter away. So beautiful. It’s hard to pick one, but I think the orange is just stunning. I’ve been following Trish on her blog and her designs are just so life-like.

    108
  87. I am an avid gardener with a number of large mixed perennial beds around our yard. Plants to host and feed butterflies are included in all the beds, and I am rewarded each year by getting hours of pleasure watching the butterflies nectar and the caterpillars crawl on my flowers. The orange butterflies have always been my favorites, and the dogwood is one of my favorite trees, so that is my choice: Orange Butterfly. Thanks for offering all 3 of these beauties.

    109
  88. Hi Mary
I really like the Adonis Blue Butterfly. But the other two are good as well. I am a great fan of Trish’s work and have all her books. I am in the process of collecting the DMC threads required but am a bit stumped by which linen/fabric to use. Just thought if I won one of the kits it would give me a sample to try and source. At the moment am using patchwork fabric plus butter muslin backing to practice the technique.
    Kind regards
Jenny from a blustery Chester (UK)

    110
  89. I love them all, but the blue is my favorite. It looks very elegant to me. Thank you so much for the giveaway chance, and for sharing so many wonderful examples and tips!! I look forward to your email every day!

    111
  90. I wish, I wish, I wish that you
Would pick for me a butterfly
    All pretty and blue.

    Thanks for the opportunity
    KaycJo

    112
  91. Thanks for this giveaway.
I really like the look of that Adonis Blue butterfly, something I would love have hanging on my wall to remind me of summer in a long dreary winter.
    Tania

    114
  92. I love the red one its got strawberry’s another favourite of mine.I have done short and long stitch but would love to improve on the skill.

    Suzy

    117
  93. G’day Mary, and thank you and Trish both for this very special and generous giveaway.
The African Red Butterfly is a beauty, and with the strawberries it would make a wonderful addition to the Vintage Strawberries I’ll be doing soon with Margaret.
    Cheers, Kath from Oz

PS, Yeah, so is Christmas! Looking forward to Autumn though ; )

    118
  94. All three butterflies are gorgeous! While I’m usually an absolute sucker for anything red accessory-wise (red wallet, red umbrella), I’d love to stitch the blue butterfly and those luscious blue berries.

    119
  95. I just love the blue butterfly!
Thanks so much for the chance to win.
A kit from Tish is on my list to do.

    120
  96. I love them all but since blue is my favorite color, I would pick that one. I had never done much needlework before but I find now that I am really loving it. Oh no, a new addiction lol.

    122
  97. I really like that blue flutterby! But, that orange one is a close second!
    Thank you!
    Shari Harniss
    Houston, TX

    123
  98. Can you tell I love the blue butterfly ^;^ I love your website. It is like going to stitchery school everday! Now why didn’t they have this in high school as an elective? What an idea. That would be one sure way of making the craft continues to further generations ^;^
Thank you so much and please never stop educating us everyday ^;^

    125
  99. Which do I like best? – Now that’s a hard one — all three!! They’re lovely! But I think I’d vote for the Orange butterfly – I also like the flower above it which enhances it – and the coloring is perfect for my home!

    126
  100. These butterflies would be great to add to our collection. My mother and I do some embroidery work twice a week. I visit her at the nursing home and we talk and embroider together. (she is 101 years old but still able to thread her needle. The butterfly stitches are easy and would be great for us to do together.

    128
  101. First off thank you Mary and Trish for the opportunity to win one of these beautiful butterflies. Trying to pick one over the other two wasn’t easy but I kept being drawn to the Adonis Blue Butterfly. That bright, electric blue is just so heavenly, I can imagine that butterfly fluttering through the air with the white blossoms as a backdrop. Ooo, pretty.

    129
  102. I absolutely love the blue butterfly! I am a beginner who just found you. I absolutely love all the different stitches found on your site. I’m telling all my friends about it. The tutorials are excellent!
    Kathy

    130
  103. I like the blue one. The colors remind me of the ocean that I miss so much since moving to this little town in Kansas.

    131
  104. They’re all equally gorgeous, so I choose only because you ask. I like the orange one because one’s eye focuses a little more on the butterfly and flower because of the absence of the fruit. I like the fruit, but it seems like gilding the lily to put three lovely bits of nature in such a small space. Although….that deep blue is riveting…

    133
  105. I love the blue butterfly. They are all gorgeous and it would be great to have a bouquet of butterflys, but the blue one flew off the page (computer screen) right into my heart.

    134
  106. All three are beautiful, but I’d have to agree with you on the african red. I have most of Trish’s books and her DVD, but this kit is just what I need to overcome inertia and really get into it.
Plus my birthday is next week, so winning this would be a great gift! 🙂

    135
  107. It’s hard to choose, but I think I have to pick the blue. It’s so vivid and you’re right, it does look like its floating.

    136
  108. Ahh the red butterfly with the strawberries…..really reminds me of spring. Would love to stitch this one.

    137
  109. oh wow! I would really love to win of one of these kits. I love all of them, but I would choose the orange butterfly. thank you so much for this giveaway chance Kathy living in the ozarks of Missouri

    138
  110. My favourite butterfly is the blue one. And my favourite day in winter is the solstice which means that we are getting longer daylight every day and getting closer to spring.

    139
  111. I am a fan of Trish Burr. I have sticthed her flowersd in the past. I would be happy to have a kit of butterfly. I favourite colours are purple blue and grey.

    140
  112. So difficult to pick only one. The orange butterfly is beautiful. The colors bring a sense of the warmth of the sunshine on a peaceful summer afternoon. How wonderful it would be to add another touch of nature to my indoor living space. Spring cannot come soon enough for me!

    141
  113. Oh, Mary what beautiful butterflies! I love the African Red with the strawberries! I would love to win that one. Thanks for the give-a-way. You always have such nice thngs on your site.

    142
  114. Dear Mary,

I think the blue butterfly is soooo beautiful.
Sometimes my fingers just itch for a needle and thread. This beautiful butterfly made them start itching again. Thank you Trish Burr for donating the kits and thank you Mary for the chance to win one.

    Sincerely,
    Jane

    143
  115. the blue butterfly is my most favorite. It seems to speak to me..

It reminds me of a dreamy spring afternoon at the beach in the south seas….

    thank you for the chance.

    peggy Nyberg

    144
  116. Oh wow! That’s actually kind of a hard question. I adore blue and orange anything. So choosing between blue and orange butterflies… hmm. But I think the dogwood blossom edges the orange butterfly into my #1 preference.

They are all so beautiful. Trish Burr’s work is inspiring. Thanks for the chance to win one.

    145
  117. I have Trish Burr’s book and been enthralled with the needlework technique but so far have not had a chance to try doing it. (Cold feet, I guess.) I absolutely love the gold butterfly with the dogwood blossom. It looks as though it would give the most visible opportunity to try the long, short stitching method which might not be a good thing given my lack of experience with it. This is a great chance to try working this way. Thank you both, Trish and Mary, for giving three lucky people a shot at something new.

    146
  118. I have embroidered dozens of butterflies. I love the blue adonis but they are all incredible.

    147
  119. Wow what a hard decision. I would love to have any of them as they are all beautiful. I think the blue is my favorite.

    148
  120. It makes you want to pick up the strawberry and eat it right there, with juice running from your mouth and your eyes watching the magnificent flight of the African Red Butterfly in flight and appreciate life. Trish Burr definitely has God-given talent that she shares with the world. Thank you for sharing the give-away opportunity.
Absolutely love your website- details, details is what I like.

    149
  121. The orange and red butterflies are warm and tropical but the blue reminds me of the tiny blues seen fluttering and clustering like fairy dancers around a little pools of water. All three are lovely but I like the blue best.

    150
  122. I am always excited to see butterflies of any color in nature, but like many others who have commented before me, I believe I would choose the blue butterfly to stitch.
Thank you for your wonderful website. A bright spot to any day !

    151
  123. Oh my goodness I cannot believe you are giving away three Trish Burr pieces. Trish is my favorite needlepainter. Everytime a new piece comes out I am amazed at her talent.

I love everything she does, but I have to say of the three pieces you selected for the give-away my choice was easy. I adore “Adonis Blue Butterfly”. You ask why? Well, first of all the butterfly is BLUE. Blue is my favorite color. On top of that I LOVE “BLUEBERRIES”. The combination is a match made in heaven for me.

Thank you for the oportunity to win one of Trish’s lovely pieces. My fingers are crossed. 🙂

    Karen Jetton

    152
  124. My favorite butterfly is the Red butterfly as I could never imagine how red it is and the more vivid colors are my favorite!

    153
  125. I am a fan of Trish Burr. I have worked with flowers. I would be extremely honoured if I win her butterfly kit. My favourite colors are purple violet blue and grey.

    154
  126. Hetty from the Netherlands.
Last year I learned embroidery with long and short stitch. It’s very difficult, but the result is beautiful. I like to learn more of this and I love the butterflys. I also learn a lot of your website. Amazing, the world is very small.

    156
  127. I love all of them but my favorite is the blue Adonis with blueberries. I have been trying my hand at needlepainting with some good results and this will spur me on to something more advanced. My twin sister who passed away a few years ago did a lot of crewel work and I am trying to add to that collection with some of my own. It is definitely a challenge to go from counted work to more freehand because the decisions are much more numerous! I am working on getting to the point where it is as relaxing for me!

Thanks so much for your work and inspiration!

    Linda

    157
  128. Good Morning Mary,
Once again you have come up with an awesome giveaway that I am sure everyone would love to own. Trish Burr’s designs are so beautiful it is hard to pick one (LOL!) but as a personal preference I love the yellow and black butterfly the best as it reminds me of the ones I see in my yard. I live in North Florida and I have a native Florida plant which has taken over the area around my front porch(with an OK from me). It is called Fire Spikes and has tiny red flowers along the stem and butterflies (and hummingbirds too) love it and this type of butterfly is the most prevalent. Thanks again for all your inspiration.
    Dottie J.

    158
  129. They are all beautiful, but my favorite is the blue one. I’ve never done needlepainting but would love to try it! Thanks

    159
  130. To prawda idzie wiosna, od jutra w Polsce odwilż.
Każdy z trzech motyli jest piękny i przypomina o słońcu,a teraz go mało, mnie podobają się wszystkie.
Temat motyli jest delikatny i lekki.

    160
  131. I love the orange butterfly and since I am just getting back into embroidery I would love to have the kit as I am anxious to try that type of embroidery. I have purchased a piece of fabric with white edged embroidery and thought I would fill in the design with colors. This kit would help me learn how to do that. Thank you

    161
  132. How does one pick a color when all three are just beautiful? Since I love red in any shade I will go wth it. I have done Trish’s sampler, pansy in blue, and loved it. I now have her book and am trying to learn by reading and learn more and just love the work of ths talented lady.
Thanks for all that you do to educate me and others all over the world.
    Jane

    162
  133. I would love to stitch any of the three, but I think the orange butterfly would offer the best learning experience. Second choice, the blue.

    163
  134. Many thanks to you and Trish for such a generous give-away. All three butterflies are stunning. I love the colours in the orange butterfly. The blue butterfly is gorgeous as are the little blue berries. But I think I think my favourtied would be the red butterfly and it is the strawberries that tip the balance.

    Carol-Anne

    164
  135. I would love a Trish Burr kit, but I am not that good at stitch shading. And it is a long hot summer here in Australia.

    165
  136. I love earth tones and can see myself happily stitching the orange butterfly. We have similarly colored butterflies come through our area each year. That would be my choice. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of these kits. You are always so generous…

    166
  137. What a lovely idea to brighten up the depths of winter. I would pick the blue butterfly purely because of the wonderful 3D effect from the shading. But are my skills up to this level of shading?

    167
  138. I have an affinity for the blue butterfly. My favorite color is blue and the blueberries remind me of my parent’s acres of wild blueberries. Of course all three of the butterflies are beautiful. I have been wanting one of her kits for a long time.

    168
  139. Oh drool!!! They are all so pretty. If I have to pick one it would be the Adonis Blue Butterfly. I am particularly fond of blue. We have several old Mock Orange blossom bushes and when they bloom they are covered in butterflies of all kinds. Love to watch the yellow swallowtail. This year we saw several Tiger Swallowtails too!
Thanks for the opportunity to try my hand at needle painting.

    169
  140. I love the red butterfly too since we have a few wild strawberries growing in our backyard.
    But they are all beautiful!
    Ruth Ann

    171
  141. Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite is the blue butterfly but I’d be thrilled to win any of them!

    172
  142. Love the red butterfly., I haven’t tried embroidery painting but would love to learn .thank you so much for your learning site, I’ve learned plenty and have even surprised myself with the small things I done.

    173
  143. Gosh, that’s a tough question because all of the butterfly kits have a beauty and appeal. I would pick my favorite color of blue however. The sky and the butterfly….. oh my.
    Annette in Vancouver, WA

    174
  144. Hard to pick a favorite – love the strawberries on the red one, the butterfly on the blue one and the orange one …. so if I have to pick a favorite it would be the blue one. Love that butterfly and the flowers and the blueberries are starting to grow on me 🙂

    175
  145. My favorite is the orange butterfly and blossom. I like the shading particularly on the butterfly from the light yellow to the black outline. It was hard to chose…they are all so pretty. Thanks Trish for donating three kits.

    177
  146. Each of these butterflies has a reason to like it best. When I think which butterfly I would like hanging on my wall it is the African Red. I like the balance of the piece with the butterfly placed in the lower right and the viney softness of the scattered elements above.

    178
  147. These kits are new to me!

I feel about the blue one the way you feel about the red one. It’s just so blue! Love that electric blue color.

This one also looks like it has the biggest challenge for shading…

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    Carol S.

    179
  148. Preference: all three of them. but particularly the blue one.
We profit again of your generosity, You give each day many advices to go farther in the k
knowing of embroidery. many thanks. Clau

My english is not very good.

    181
  149. Just bought one of her books and two others. Would love to have one of the butterflies to really have hands on with her techniques. Colors are so vivid and realistic. The butterflies look as if they will fly of the fabric. Thank you for the offer and keep the emails coming., Jane Jones

    182
  150. Hi Mary,

It smells like spring is in the air today! It is suppose to be 71 degrees in my part of Kansas this afternoon. I am truly excited by this and your give-away today. I love all the butterflies, but would choose the blue as my favorite! Thanks, Karen

    183
  151. Being an artist, as most of us are ins some way or another, I love the term “painting with thread”! I think I like the orange one best..no the red, oh wait the blue one…they are all gorgeous and make me think of spring!

    184
  152. Mary,
Awesome give away – love Trish Burr’s kits.
My favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly – just love blue!! Thank you Mary and Trish!

    185
  153. I love the blue butterfly! And the blueberries! (We grow a lot of blueberries here in Michigan.) This would be fun to stitch and look great in my sewing room, which is painted (you guessed it)…blue!

    186
  154. In our beautiful Colorado town, we have butterflies in many colore but none in that brilliant blue! I would love to win the Adonis Blue Butterfly to embroider so that he could join his summer Colorado cousins! I would love to continue improving my long and short stitch technique as well, and I’m certain that Adonis would be an inspiration! Thank you, Mary, and thank you, Trish, for this opportunity!–JudyJ

    187
  155. Oh, to pick just one is hard, for they are all so lovely! I do love the Adonis Blue Butterfly, for it’s varied hues of blue, as if flying through the deepest deep blue of the ocean, to the crisp clear blues of the skies above to adorn it’s beautiful wings. Such a beautiful creation. Thank you for sharing!

    189
  156. You always present the most beautiful options. My favorite would be the red with the strawberries, but I have to admit that the blue butterfly is magnificent.

    190
  157. oh, I’d love to win a Trish Burr kit! My favourite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly! Thanks for this opportunity.

    192
  158. I love that orange butterfly. It would fit perfectly into my room when it’s finished and I know I’ll learn a lot in the doing of it.
    Trish is so talented.

    194
  159. Adonis Blue Butterfly…. just beautifuf and oh…. that name!!!!
Trish does beautiful work as you do and I would love to have one of her kits,
    Thanks!!!

    196
  160. My 7 yr.old granddaughter and I have a passion for butterflies. Especially Monarchs. For years we have raised milkweed in amongst the flowers in the garden. Every summer we look for the eggs, then caterpillars, then cocoons, then emerging monarchs. Nature provides us with so much beauty. I want to teach her how to stitch. I won’t start with this pattern….but I will show her how it is done. Some day she will also stitch these beauties. I like the last of the three best.

    198
  161. All the butterflies are georgeous but I have to say if I had to choose ,the blue is my favorite. It brings a sense of calm , peace , and beauty. That little butterfly with the blueberries says alot so I have to go with the blue and its my favorite color.
    Teresa R.

    199
  162. Wow, these are all so gorgeous. My favorite is the orange butterfly…because I love dogwood! Any of these would be a glorious project to work on. What a super cool idea!
    Kathy

  163. Dear Mary,
I absolutely love the blue butterfly! It’s so pretty and it would be such a delight to do something from Trish Burr. Plus I’m a bit superstitious and the blue butterfly has a lot of meaning especially for me, *sigh*.
Butterfly’s were thought to be the souls of the departed, as spirit guides, or thought to bring plain old good luck. Of course the color can also play a role in it as well, blue being related to the emotional aspect of our lives. Red being the ambitious or passionate side and orange would be more related to family and home life.
But any of these would be such a delight to work on!

    201
  164. Hello,
What a lovely set of butterflies. I live them all, but my favorite is the red butterfly with strawberries.
    Thank you
    RachelL.

    202
  165. Hi Mary,
I, like you, am looking for signs of spring, especially when there’s a weather advisory and the school district where I retired from is closing early today!!
My favorite (I love all of them!) has to be the red butterfly — red is my favorite color. Also, the strawberries and blossoms are the first fruit we can pick in the spring (strawberry shortcake, YUM).

    203
  166. Oh what a hard decision! If you are going to force me to pick I would say the orange butterfly.

    204
  167. Thank you so much for offering these. Very hard to pick just one favorite tho. If I had to the Adonis would probably be first choice, followed by the red one, then the blue one. Thanks again!

    205
  168. O, can’t choose but Orange is my most fav.
I am a determined beginner and would love to have one. I have been practicing l&s stitch.

    Thanks for a chance.

    206
  169. Oooooh… All those butterflies are so pretty, I like them all. I did just dye my hair pretty much in the exact shades of the African Red Butterfly (my hair is now vibrant bright red, with streaks of darker red and orange-red), so, I’d probably have to say that the African Red is my favourite. I haven’t yet tackled needlepainting, so I would fall in the “determined beginner” category. 😉

    207
  170. I love the red butterfly paired with the strawberries! What a glorious harbinger of spring!

    208
  171. Morning Mary!

Another beautiful give-away! Thank for the opportunity, Mary!

I have wanted one of Trish Burr’s kits for a long, long time. The little birds got me started (LOL). I have to say the Orange one is my favorite.

    Kelly Searles
    Chickamauga, GA USA

    209
  172. Thank you for these contest opportunities, Mary. As you **sigh** for the African Red Butterfly I do the same for the Adonis Blue. It is just breathtaking! How wonderful it would be to receive a Trish Burr kit, to complete and leave to my grandchildren…sigh.

    210
  173. Susan Newnam from New Mexico. I would love to have the Orange Butterfly and blossom. I have stitched so much Christmas that I’m trying to increase my fall colored pieces. It also reminds me of a dear old man who would send me Orange Blossom perfume when I was a little girl. He always signed it from “your secret pal”. Thanks for sharing so much with all of us.

    211
  174. I have already stitched the orange butterfly as a wedding present and it was beautiful – though I say it myself – I would love the chance to stitche one of the others. So I guess that the orange was my favourite, but now I think it’s the red one, or maybe the blue one. Nope, too difficult to choose!

    212
  175. Would love to win the orange one!
It would be nice to “win” something to start the year out …. besides ‘winning’ on getting the flu…

    216
  176. Hi Mary,
Ooh, they’re all lovely but I think the orange butterfly gets my vote. I know my Mum would love that one and I’d like to embroider it for her. Thank you to you and Trish for this fabulous giveaway. Have a nice day.
    Kathryn 🙂

    217
  177. I like the blue butterfly the best! It reminds me of the butterflies I saw at Xcaret in Mexico when I was on my cruise. The underside of the wings was drab brown but when they opened them up they were bright blue. Plus, I like blueberries.

    218
  178. I love the Orange Butterfly & Blossom. The colors are colors I haven’t worked with but really do love. Usually the beautiful colors of autumn are reserved for “autumn-y” scenes so this butterfly is special since I associate butterflies with Spring. To have a Trish Burr kit would be an incredible treat! Linda Chudej from Lufkin, Texas, USA

    220
  179. I love the blue butterfly. My 3 yr old’s favorite color is blue and he only uses that crayon!! I am new to embroidery and am learning stitches. Right now I’m making a felt activity book for my kids and am embroidering vegetables! Usually a knitter by craft, I’m really enjoying learning embroidery, and am finding many similarities. Thank you for the giveaway chance!

    221
  180. The African Red Butterfly calls me. I would love to have the opportunity to learn how to needle paint. For me, it will combine learning a new skill in a subject such beautiful as The Red African Butterfly.
    Thanks for the opportunity.
    Esther B

    222
  181. I love all three butterflies but the Adonis Blue is my favorite. Thanks for the chance to win.

    224
  182. I’m so torn, I love them all! But I suppose I have to choose the orange as my favorite because it makes me think of another spring favorite, my beloved tulip bed which blooms with yellow and orange tulips. I’m in Michigan and I am sooooo ready for spring! My fingers are just itching for he garden!

    225
  183. How exciting! I am bonkers over butterflies and needlepainting is something I have yet to try so I would be a beginner. I love all these butterflies. I suppose if I had to choose it would be the blue one but would welcome any of them into my stitch garden! Connie Eyberg

    226
  184. This is difficult. They are all fabulous and normally I would say the red, but the Orange Butterfly & Blossom is calling me. So the orange.

    227
  185. My spring garden is filled with beautiful shades of blue, from the delphineum to the baptisia, and then there’s all the siberian iris. Trisha Burr’s blue butterfly will feel right at home. What a lovely project to make me think of spring. (I’m in upstate New York and spring seems an eternity away!)

    228
  186. I love the blue butterfly with the blueberries. I think blending that many shades of blue will give me great pleasure in the stitching, and years of pleasure in the looking. I’ve done some long and short before, but I need to get more skillful and this seems a lovely project to learn from.

    229
  187. I love Trish Burr’s designs and all three butterflies would be fun to do. The African Red butterfly reminds me of summer, so I’ll choose that one. Thanks for another great giveaway.

    230
  188. I absolutely love the butterflies. I’d say the Adonis blue butterfly is my favorite! But all are gorgeous.

    231
  189. How can I decide which on I like best? They’re all stunning but I suppose if you put a gun to my head I would have to pick the orange/black one. I love the vibrant color of it and it makes me think of summer most. Thanks for the offer!

    232
  190. Well I think I like the Blue and the Orange the best although the red is beautiful too. I am signed up to do the strawberry kit so I am more prone to the others. But I really like the way the colors move in the Blue and Orange. I am working on developing my thread painting I would so love to get as good as the people that do the Chinese Suzhou silk embroidery. I am just in awe of their work.

    233
  191. I would love to win the orange butterfly and give a retry at working the Long and Sort Stitches.Tryed this long ago and mine looked to padded instead of blending the threads.Thank you !

    234
  192. I am drawn to red like a moth to a flame! The blue, however, comes in close second. The colors are lovely and the accompanying blossom is quite pretty.

Thank you for the opportunity to win one of these lovelies!

    235
  193. Mary, what a great give away! I love the Orange Butterfly & Blossom, because these are the colors I always gravitate toward. Try as I may to vary color schemes, I find that my work always ends up incorporating these, somehow. Would love to try out one of Trish’s kits. Thanks for doing this!

    236
  194. I love the red butterfly as red is my favorite color. I would love to win either of the colors as I have wanted a Trish Burr kit for a long time.

    237
  195. Trish Burr’s butterfly’s are all beautiful, and I’d love to win one of them and have the chance to try out one of her kits.

    238
  196. The blue butterfly is so pretty to me. I would love to get th chance to embroider this blue beauty!

    239
  197. Gorgeous butterflies! My favorite is the orange with the blossom. These kits remind me of a butterfly house I once visited in Arizona. So enchanting walking around with butterflies on your shoulder!

    240
  198. Defintely the red! Did not know a red butterfly existed, and it is my favorite color. Trish Burr’s work is unbelievable!

    241
  199. Oh my goodness!! Those do scream SPRING!!! I love love the orange butterfly with the blossom. The flower looks like a dogwood which was my fathers favorite flowering tree!(he loved butterflies too) Thank you for the chance to win one of these lovelies!!
    Gloria in Georgia!!

    242
  200. The orange butterfly is my favourite as it’s vibrant colours remind me of a tropical setting and beautiful summer sunsets, which I am looking forward to seeing again.

    243
  201. Hi Mary,

Absolutely love all of your postings; they challenge me to develop my embroidery skills! This is an awesome giveaway. Thank you and Trish for the opportunity to win one of these. They are all so stunningly beautiful! But, if I had to pick just one as a favorite, I would select the Adonis blue butterfly because I love the vivid blues, the floating effect, and the shading on the wings! It is truly exquisite, and blue is my favorite color.

    Lynn, Rio Linda, California

    244
  202. Love, love, love the red butterfly! I’ve not yet attempted thread painting, but purchased Trish’s Book and have been studying. Would love to be chosen for one of these kits so I could make it my first project.

    245
  203. I love the Adonis Blue Butterfly! It is really striking!!! It reminds me of a gift my brother gave me many years ago. I would really love to have it.
    Lynn

    246
  204. Hi Mary, I love all three, but my favorite one
is the Orange with the Dogwood. I love butter-
flys and the dark mixed with the orange just
pops out,and then the love for the Dogwood and
its ledgend.I hope I will be one of the lucky
    winners. Sincerely,Net Stuart

    247
  205. I love all three. It is so hard to choose but I think I love the blue butterfly just a tiny bit better. I never knew you could do such beautiful things with a needle. That’s why I love your Blog…I have learned so much and am so impressed with your expertise and general niceness.

But then, us Kansans are nice aren’t we?

    248
  206. Bonjour Mary, Another great give away… how lucky we are. Ma favorite is definetly Adonis Blue,ma brother owns a small érabliere and we see all kinds of butterfly during the summer but very rarely the blue ones. Hope with all my heart the I win. Thank You.
    France from Québec.

    249
  207. I love Trish Burr! I got her Color Confidence book for Christmas and would love to work one of her pieces as I read it. You know I want to absorb as much of her teaching as possible and get going on improving my long & short/ needlepainting skills!

    251
  208. Oh, Mary, any would be wonderful – but if I had to choose just one – it would be the red one with the strawberries. So vivid – and BEAUTIFUL!!

    254
  209. Oh, I love them ALL!! But my favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. It’s just beautiful floating there! Thanks so much for the chance to win one of these.

    255
  210. Mary,
My heart beat a little flutter when I saw this give-away. Ever since my 7 year-old daughter was born I have filled her room with butterflies. She has asked me for an embroidery for her room, and I have hesitated because I just didn’t know what to create for her. Then I saw the red butterfly. Other than pink of course, red is her next favorite color. I know she would cherish this butterfly on a pillow or framed for her whole life.

Thank you for this opportunity to make something special for my little princess.–yours fondly, Heather Harley

    256
  211. Hi I am from Vancouver BC Canada, I am learning the embroidery needlework & surprised me to pick one of these Butterflies! Thank you. Erdna.

    257
  212. Have always admired Trish Burr’s creations. I purchased her DVD a few years ago and your post today has inspired me to watch it again. Must admit I like ALL the butterflies but the orange one is my favourite with the blossom. As always, enjoy your wonderful posts Mary.

    259
  213. Dear Mary

Thanks for this lovely give away so beautiful. All the colours are so vibrant but my favourite is the vibrant African Red Butterfly with the white flowers and the added bonus of strawberries definitely reminds me of the warmth of spring/summer and the growth of nature with the beautiful array of various and vibrant colours Ah beautiful!

  214. These are so gorgeous. I would love to win these as today is my 69th birthday and what a beautiful present to keep me going on decorating a bedroom for my great grandaughter who will be coming to live with me in the near future. I adopted her dad when I met him here in US 10 years ago. He was married with 5 children. The wife and children are in India and will be coming here to join us and this would be a beautiful piece of work for her bedroom. Also I would be able to teach her embroidery too.

    261
  215. They’re all lovely! I’m drawn to the cool colors, so the blue butterfly is my favorite. Thank you, Mary, and Trish Burr as well!

    262
  216. I adore blue so you can guess what butterfly is my favorite, yes the blue one with blue berries, also right up there on the favorites list. Thank you for the opportunity. I love your site and have learned so much.

  217. I’ve been wanting to try and do this type of embroidery which I am approaching with a little fear.. I love the blue butterfly it make’s my heart sing and that is such a great feeling. This needlework challenge is something that I am truly hoping will happen. What a gift that would be.

    265
  218. I love the orange butterfly and blossom. It would be wonderful to work on long & short stitch on this Trish Burr design!

    266
  219. Dear Mary,
I love the red butterfly best. The strawberries look good enough to eat. What a great opportunity to have a go at thread painting with instructions from one of the best. Thank you Mary.

    268
  220. When I met the man I was to marry I discovered that he loved the colour blue as I do. There was, therefore, no problem in decorateing our home. BLUE is my choice, though of course, the others are equally as stunning. Thankyou for this opportunity.

    269
  221. I have to agree I do like the red one with the strawberries although the blue one comes a close second as it has some tasty looking blueberries with it as well. I need a reminder about spring as I look out at the nasty ice storm we are having today. Thanks for your giveaways, they are great

    270
  222. I love, love, love butterflies!!! I would have a butterfly tattoo if I could. My daughter, when she was small would say “Flutterbye” and for years that’s what we called them.

I would so love to win one of these beautiful kits.

Thank you for all you do.
    Glor5ia

    271
  223. All 3 are stunning and I would be thrilled to put my hand to any of them. But if I have to choose I would say the blue is my favorite.

Thanks so much for a chance.

    272
  224. My favorite is the orange butterfly and blossom –simplest pattern, but beautiful! Love the orange and black contrast.

    273
  225. Mary, I have wanted to do one of these. I think the orange one is my favorite although the red and blue are beatiful too. This is a really hard decision. It would be fun to stitch anyone of those. I hope I win.

    274
  226. I love the butterflies, all three are beautiful but I think the orange is my favorite. It has been a while since I have done that kind of stitch.

    275
  227. Love the Trish Burr Butterflies! Especially like the blue one. Am just starting the tutorial on shading so this would be perfect!

    276
  228. A Trish Burr kit would hit the spot! I love the Blue Butterfly and thank you for a chance to dream about stitching it.

    278
  229. i would love to do the red butterfly. It reminds me of when my first husband was alive and we used to pick the wild strawberriesa every spring.

    279
  230. Such beautiful bright butterflies. I love them all but the Red one stands out, but the blue one is very pretty too and the other one is so pretty too.. Hard to choose but I do love the red one. It is so bright and cheery and you can just see it fluttering in the strawberry patch looking very regal. Thanks for the opportunity to win such beautiful needleworks from Trish. Her kits all of them are to die for.Have a great week. Stay warm everyone if you are in the snow or otherwise.

    282
  231. I like the blue. I think the berries look fun to try and blueberries are currently the only fruit my daughter will let me send in her lunch for school.

    283
  232. I love the blue butterfly because the shading on it is wonderful. I would love to win any of these, as they are all lovely.
Thanks for all the great info on your website,
    Chris Handy

    284
  233. The butterfly I like the very best is The African Red Butterfly. Georgeous colouring, reminds you of the different flame reds that seem to be in the African sky. At present I am enjoying the TV documentary/wildlife programme by David Attenborough – AFRICA.
    Thank you.

    286
  234. I’m in love with the Blue Butterfly. I spend hours watching the butterflies in the yard, and it would be wonderful to bring them into my sewing room when complete. Such joy all butterflies bring.

    287
  235. My favorite butterfly would have to be the African Red. They are all very pretty but that red one really stands out.
    Thelma B in Arkansas

    288
  236. The blue butterfly is so so beautiful!!
Thank you for a wonderful website – so full of much needed information and inspiration!! I love the chats from friends from all around the world – creating with our hands is refreshing and exciting, all at the same time!

    289
  237. I like the Orange and Black butterfly the best. It reminds me of Monarch butterflies which I find breath-takingly beautiful and fascinating.

    Thanks for this opportunity.

    292
  238. I love the Orange Butterfly & Blossom, Orange is one of my favorite colors, and right now being pregnant, my only craving has been oranges so far!

    293
  239. African red or Adonis Blue …. Oh my so hard to chose. They are booth so lovely. I love the strawberries on the Red and the shading on the blue. I think hard press I would go with the blue. I need the practice in color changing and the blue looks like it would be a bit easier to practice on.

    294
  240. Hi – I just love the blue butterfly! The shades are just gorgeous. Of course, they are all wonderful. Trish Burr’s shadings are so beautiful. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.
    Judy C

    295
  241. They are all so beautiful that it is difficult to choose but I would put the African Red #1.

    296
  242. They are all gorgeous, bur I am partial to the blue. It’s an Adonis indeed. thanks to you and Trish Burr for such a wonderful giveaway!

    297
  243. My favourite is the Adonis Blue. I teach embroidery classes, and these would be perfect for some of my students.

    298
  244. Hi Mary,

If I had to pick, I would choose the orange butterfly kit. I love the color orange (especially this time of year in Minnesota) and I think the contrast from black to, deep orange, to yellow to almost ecru would provide some good needle painting practice as I am a beginner. All of these kits are just lovely.

    299
  245. Hard choice, I am partial to red to I have to pick “THE AFRICAN RED BUTTERFLY.

    Thanks for this wonderful opportunity.

    300
  246. The blue butterfly is far and away my favorite. I can hear my four-year-old granddaughter saying, “I’m blue and Penny’s pink.” She’s referring to her older sister but I can’t even count the number of times I’ve heard this. We have something in common…blue is my favorite color, too. Butterflies are just flying flowers, you know.

    Mary C. in Vancouver

    301
  247. It is difficult to say because they are all beautiful but probably the orange blossom is the top one. Recently I purchased some butterfly fabric – there must be something up with them in my life right now. I am drawn to things butterfly!

    302
  248. Hola, que delicia, es un sueño poder participar en éste sorteo.Me gusta la mariposa africana, es bellisima, muchas gracias por organizar el sorteo, espero tener suerte, cariños

    303
  249. Gosh, it’s hard to pick from the three — they’re all so pretty! But I think I have to go with the blue one. Beautiful!

    304
  250. Mary,

I absolutely LOVE the African Red Butterfly. The strawberrieds really reminds me of early summer and I’d love to sink my teeth into those jummy guys. The butterly is so vibrant and warm. Definately my favorate!!!! Not to mention I’m from Africa so even better.

Thanks for this great give-away appreciate it.

    Amanda

    305
  251. The African Red Butterfly is my favorite, in part because it contains strawberries. I missed out on registering in time for Trish Burr’s online thread shading class that used an image containing strawberries.

So with this kit, perhaps I will still get a healthy dose of learning!

    306
  252. I do like all three of the kits, but as I have been asked to choose , I will choose the “Orange Butterfly and Blossom ” as it reminds me of the wooden Monarch Butterfly we have in our garden and that one of the first flowers to join it in the Spring is the anemone. Here in Winnipeg, Manitoba it will be awhile till Spring appears but it is a good feeling to know that it will come with all of its glory. While I wait for it to come, I would be so very thrilled to do this kit.

    307
  253. Blue Butterfly is my favorite. I’m a novice but everything on your site is beautiful. Love to look at everything.

    308
  254. I absolutely love the blue butterfly! Thanks for offering this give-away. Keeping my fingers crossed…

    309
  255. I must say this was a hard decision. I finally chose the Adonis Blue Butterfly and the real look flower. I picked this because my favorite color is blue and the flower was interesting and life like

    Thanks for the contest.

    310
  256. I have always done counted work and failed miserably whenever I have tried anything that wasn’t counted. But having seen a number of Trish’s designs, whihc are so gorgeous, I have been sorely tempted to try needlepainting. I am going to take an introductory class at this year’s Nordic Needle retreat. One of these butterflies would be a very nice follow-up. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think I would choose the orange one.

    311
  257. Orange; I love the dogwood blossom in the corner. It’s the provincial flower of British Columbia. My dining room and living room are accentuated with orange. The paint company calls it melon on the accent wall and the upholstery on the love seat is called burnt melon, but it’s orange.

    312
  258. All of the colours are beautiful, but my sister’s favourite colour is red and her birthday is coming up in April. I would love to stitch a red butterfly for her.

    313
  259. All three butterflies are beautiful! If I had to choose one though, I would say the African Red though, as it would match the strawberries I did in the first online class with Margaret Cobleigh.
I enjoyed her class and learned tons of information and would love to try my hand at another project, such as one of these beautiful butterflies.

    314
  260. All of the butterflies featured in this giveaway are beautiful. I would love to win one. With 3grand daughters that love butterflies I would have to make one in blue, one in red, and one in purple. The purple I would have to wing, but I am up for the challenge. Trish Burr designs are amazing.

    315
  261. Love your give-a-ways Mary! Love Trish Burr’s work & I love butterflies. The blue butterfly is my favourite (they are all beauties). The colour is so vivid! Blueberries are also one of my favourite berries especially with ice cream.

    Cheers, Linda A
    Ontario, Canada

    316
  262. I don’t expect my answer to be different from most of all the others, but I love all three of them. Maybe I feel a little more inclined to the blue one, but the flowers on the red butterfly are adorable! and the orange..Hm! yes, all three of them. Thank you so much Mary and Trish for this giveaway.

    317
  263. Red, red, red. My kitchen counter chairs, pots and pans and stained glass in the windows all have red. My quilts almost always have some red and black in them. Even my iPad has a red cover. I haven’t done much in the way of long and short stitches but this looks like a wonderful way to start. I’d love to add this to my crazy quilting projects.

    318
  264. Hello Trish,
I like most the African Red Butterfly.
This we have not in the Netherlands.
And I love butterflies, they are beautiful.
    Greetings.
    Maria from the Netherlands.

    319
  265. I have all of Trish Burr’s books and have been waiting to dip my feet in thread painting. I really like the Adonis blue butterfly best!

    320
  266. The Adonis Blue Butterfly is beautiful. With the blueberries, my husband would love to have this in our home.

    321
  267. I love the Adonis Blue. It really does look like it is about to take off. The flowers also come right off the surface. That said, it was really hard to pick just one!

    324
  268. My husband Frank was very artistic and happened upon an orange butterfly in the garden that had just died. He mounted the butterfly in a shadowbox and added a background and it looked just gorgeous. I’ve moved since he died and I couldn’t keep up our old house and I don’t know what happened to that butterfly. I’d love to have the orange butterfly to remind me of Frank.

    326
  269. I am new to embroidery and love everything about it. I think all of the butterflies are gorgeous but, the red one is my favorite. Reds and greens are my favorite color combination. I have 3 of Trish Burr’s books and hope to be able to create some of the beautiful projects she has in them. This would be a great first project!

    327
  270. All of these butterflies are exquisite, but I would choose the vibrant red one. Red has become my favorite color, after years of preferring yellow, then pink, then purple. I know I would learn from this kit, but best of all would be stitching this gorgeous red butterfly.

    328
  271. Oh You dog…. I love love love butterflies. I too love the dark red one. I wish those would be in my garden. I have the perfect spot on my wall for that one. I would love to learn how do do the needle painting. I plant butterfly weed mixed all throug my garden so always have a bunch of butterflys. I have a number of books on how to do them. Including your last book review. You get me in so much trouble. That is why I am adicted to your blog.

    330
  272. When I was a child my favorite place was the grove of dogwood trees in our yard. They formed a delightful shaded room, with little extras like ferns and wildflowers. The orange butterfly with the dogwood blossom took me back into that wonderful place. So while all are lovely, that’s the one for me!

    331
  273. Oh dear which butterfly do I like the best? I like all butterflies but I have yet to embroider one! I have embroidered a bird and a flower, in long and short stitch but have yet to try a butterfly. So if I have a choice – it would be the red one please.
(This choice took a very long time as they are all beautiful – it was the chance to embroider some strawberries as well as the butterfly that helped to make up my mind!!!). Many thanks to Trish and Mary for giveaway.

    332
  274. Hello mary,

Thanks for this lovely giveaway. All 3 of the butterflies are beautiful. I love the African Red Butterfly because it has lovely flowers and strawberries, (it remindes me of a giveaway i think in the 12 days of chirstmas, i guess, i’m not sure) and the vivid red colour is superb but it is the Adonis Blue Butterfly the really gets my vote, its blue, white and black, some of my favourite, colours are real show stealers and definitely it looks like a butterfly sitting on the cloth than stitched on the cloth. Love you for all what you are doing for embroidery lovers around the world. Thank you.

    333
  275. They are all beautiful, but I think that I like the blue one best, maybe because I use blue more than red or orange. I would love to try one of Trish’s kits.

    334
  276. I would love to have one of these kits. I especially like the orange one. It is so bright and beautiful and I really like the dogwood blossom next to it.

    336
  277. Of the three butterflies designed by Trish Burr, I like the Adonis Blue Butterfly the best. Thank you, Mary Corbet, for your website, and thank you, Trish Burr, for sharing you talent and your kits.

    337
  278. Love the blue butterfly-t reminds me of the butterflies that visit my butterfly bush in the summer.

    338
  279. Hello! Melissa J. from California. These butterflies remind me of my mother’s kitchen – love the Red African with the strawberries. I’ve never done shading before, would love such a kit to learn how!

    340
  280. The vivid blue is my favorite. It looks as if it were appliqued and not embroidered on the background fabric. Thank you for the contest and I’d be happy to win any one.

    341
  281. Sometimes, Mary, you ask hard questions. All the kits are beautiful. If I have to, I think I will plump for the orange as my slight favorite; I like orange and I like dogwood. My second choice is the red, with the delicious strawberries. I put the blue butterfly last, because I had to put something last, and I could picture myself saying to everyone who might admire the finished project, “Well, you know, those aren’t really blueberry flowers.” But please understand that I would be quite happy to do so.

    342
  282. I love all of these butterfly kits. To me the most beautiful if the Orange and Blossom. The shading on the butterfly is just perfect!

    343
  283. I agree that the red butterfly is very appealing with the strawberries, but that blue is and always has been my favorite color for my entire life. I do long and short stitch, but my skills could stand to be improved, and a small kit like this one might just be the thing to do it.

    344
  284. They’re all lovely but I have to say I like the orange butterfly and blossom the best. The shading of orange to black is awesome. ^_^

    346
  285. The butterfly that I like the most is the Orange Butterfly and Blossom. The combination of the reds and whites are so beautiful! The design is so realistic, and majestic!
    All three butterflies are gorgeous!!
    Have a wonderful day!
    Vilma.

    347
  286. When I see the Adonis Blue butterfly with its warm blue colors, I feel peace. Imagine walking in a field and seeing these beautiful creatures flipping their wings to say hi.

    348
  287. Hi

It is a tough choice but I would have to say my favourite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. Blue is my favourite colour and this is so vibrant.

    350
  288. Blue butterflies and blue berries!; my favorite color, my favorite fruit, and my favorite IFO (identified flying object!)

    351
  289. Hard to say, if I was going to buy any one, then it would have to be all three. The blue would go in the middle to offset the other red and reddish orange one. One butterfly would be too lonely, a whole scene
would look great. Especially if other flowers were around it.

    352
  290. Hard to choose, they are all so pretty. While blue has always been my favorite color I like the Orange Butterfly & Blossom the best because it reminds me more of Spring and after all this deary weather its like the promise of Spring and renewal.
    Thanks for GIVEAWAY Ms. Mary!!

  291. Hi Mary,

I tried to make one butterfly in needlepainting and I don’t like it. I did a nice one in french knots but still want to make one in needlepainting.
I love all Trish Burr butterflies, would love to win a kit because of the instructions.

    Thank you,

    355
  292. I love all three butterflies but my favorite is the orange with a blossom. It glows with life as I’d it is just resting a moment and then will fly away.

    356
  293. Oh, that’s a very difficult choice! Even the blossoms are lovely. I believe I prefer the orange butterfly and blossom. Thanks for the chance.

    Sally

    357
  294. All of the butterflies are lovely, but as blue is my favourite colour, I would choose the blue butterfly. Learning needlepainting is on my to do list, so here’s hoping I win one of these lovely kits!

    358
  295. Hi Mary, I love the blue butterfly. It looks like it’s about to fly off the linen. Trish’s work is just amazing.

    359
  296. I too have been coveting Trisha Burr’s kits. I pondered over a “favorite” this morning and my eyes keep resting on the beautiful, ethereal blue butterfly. Could it be any more lovely? Anyone one of them is a bright signal of Spring and anyone would surely be lucky to receive one of these kits!!
Here’s me…staring at the blue butterfly. Mesmorized!

    360
  297. Hi
I was so suprised when I saw the three beautiful butterflies you are giving away.
It’s difficult to choose but I would like to say the Adonis Blue butterfly. Butterflies are the one thing I relate to my grandmama who died years ago. Everytime I think about her I see butterflies. So here they are! Very beautiful.

    362
  298. Happy Monday, Mary!

Obviously, it is really hard to pick a favorite one of these beautiful butterflies. Each one has its own particular beauty. I am drawn to the red one with the strawberries, since I can never pass up a wonderful berry. Thanks so very much for all your inspiration!

    364
  299. I love them all! I’m a big butterfly lover and I love rainbows! If i had to choose I guess I would have to go with blue it’s gorgeous.
I haven’t done much embroidery but I do cross stitch and I’ve done a few kits that are needle work.

    366
  300. While I love them all, but if I must choose a favorite, I’d want the blue one.
Thanks for all you do for us. Your post is a daily ritual for me. It helps me rid my head of all the noise and focus on the beautiful and important.

    370
  301. What a difficult decision, to pick from these three gorgeous butterflies! I think I love the African Flame the best, the colors are just so vibrant. I’m very anxious to try Trish Burr’s needlepainting technique, I just recently purchased he latest book. Just a “couple” things to finish first, LOL.

    371
  302. I like the orange butterfly because it reminds me of growing up in west Texas. I’m in Washington now and we have no really large butterflies up here.

    372
  303. Mary, I was very excited when I saw the RED butterfly! That is because of the strawberries! I am one of the students in Margaret’s upcoming Online class for the “Vintage Garden Strawberries.” This would be incredible to take the ideas that I am very excited to learn from Margaret’s class and apply them to Trish’s kit! Thanks for this opportunity!

    373
  304. All three are lovely, but my favorite is the African Red Butterfly with Strawberries. This is because red butterflies always attract my attention and strawberries mark the spring for me.

    376
  305. For me, it is a toss up between the Red and the Blue butterflies. I do love both, the red butterfly piece catches my attention with the ‘extras’, the strawberries and the flowers, but the blue also has the blueberries and blossoms. Hard to choose just one. While I like blue over red as colors, I usually choose red designs to stitch. Guess I would choose the red butterfly piece over the blue. Although any would be a treat to work up!!

    377
  306. This is Donna from Indiana, The butterfly kits are each absolutely lovely and inspiring to look at here on a cold January day! I have disabled daughter who LOVES butterflies and responds to them in such a happy way. My needlework is many times a stress reliever for me in my care for her and her handicapped siblings. I thought I’d add a comment but I believe I will get one of these kits whether I “win” or not just because they mean spring will really come and I can bring joy to someone with my handwork! I so enjoy your email each day. Thank you, Mary

    378
  307. I love the Adonis Blue utterfly by Trish Burr!We looked for a blue butterfly on a recent trip to the Amazon, but didn’t see one. I could stitch one! Her kit would be the perfect way to begin.

    379
  308. This is too hard. First I LOVE red and I am currently redoing my upholstery in red for my gathering room. However, that blue butterfly is so beautiful, too. The orange one I love because of the dogwood blossom-what says Spring like dogwoods. I guess if I HAD to pick one for decor it would be red.
Thanks for the giveaway. I have been wanting to try this for a long time.

    381
  309. What a wonderful giveaway! My very favorite is the orange butterfly with blossom, although they are all so very lovely! Thank you for your daily emails that are always informative and thanks for the fun giveaway!

    382
  310. The ‘Adonis Blue Butterfly’ immediately caught my attention. The colors are vibrant and blend in to each other so beautifully.

Last spring, I embroidered a monarch butterfly using crewel embroidery kit. Trish’s blue butterfly will be the perfect complement.

    383
  311. I still have not won a give away, so here’s hoping this time will be the one. I love these needlepainted butterflies. When I see something like this to embroider, I immediately want to start working on it. I see that most like the blue butterfly from the comments. I have to say I do too. There is something about the way the blue colors blend into each other so perfectly. Will be fun to embroider these if I win!!!!!

    385
  312. Definitely, the BLUE BUTTERFLY design. It has been my favorite color since childhood. It brings me memories of growing up, memories of my Mom because BLUE was her favorite color too, and BLUE color is calm, cool, and soothing. All the right combinations for a cherished piece of work I would like to accomplished and treasure forever.

    387
  313. I love butterflies. They symbolize a renewal of life. A caterpillar creates a cocoon and disintegrates into “caterpillar soup” or chaos, then a butterfly is created from the soup/chaos. Sometimes I feel that life parallels this transition. I particularly like the red butterfly with strawberries.

    388
  314. Hi:

I have bought two of Trish’s lovely books and will one day treat myself to one of her kits if I am not one of the lucky winners.

I like the African Red Butterfly best – not only because I like red, but because I love the fact that there are extra flowers and branches to stitch. I am a bit of a crazy quilter and would love to design a pillow top of a quilt square around one of these butterflies.

    389
  315. My fav is the orange butterfly because it most resembles the ones we see here. Really makes spring seem soon!

    390
  316. Well, I enjoy needle painting AND adore butterflies, so this is a really good giveaway for me!!

I like the blue one best by a large margin. Why? I think it’s simply that it’s the most familiar to me – we have something similar in the UK, albeit not where I live.=) I always like to stitch the familiar, much as I like to see the exotic.

    391
  317. Mary, I have been learning and practicing long and short from your Long and Short Stitch Lessons. I am about half way through the lessons and your instructions are very helpful. I would love to have a Trish Burr kit for my first long and short project. My favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. Thanks Mary for all that you do for us stitchers!

    394
  318. Hi & thanks a lot for this give away! As you,I prefer the African red butterfly! 5 like too strawberries! I’m found of them! and thanks too fot your stitches lessons.Love.Béa

    395
  319. Oh, Mary,
You are always tempting me with the most delicious embroiodery!!! I love them all, but if I had to pick,it would also be the red with the strawberries. I love strawberries….eating….stitching…admiring their beauty.

    396
  320. It would be a great learning experience to stitch the orange butterfly & blossom. That shading is exquisite & I need the practice in that technique. What a wonderful opportunity you are offering. Trish Burr is so talented. Thanks.

    397
    1. The exquisite shading of the orange butterfly & blossom makes that my choice. Thanks for the opportunity for a Trish Burr kit.

  321. My favorite one out of the three is the blue butterfly. My sister likes blue and it reminds me so much of her; with the beautiful hues.

    398
  322. Oh, I love the orange one! We have very similar butterflies up here on the mountain where I live, they migrate in huge groups and it is stunning to see a few hundred at a time as they fly through. And I had a mock orange growing outside the sewing shop I used to have with my grandmother. I used some of the blossoms in my floral arrangements at my wedding. I would love to win this kit, thank you so much for the chance at it!

  323. Good Morning,

They are all so amazing but the Adonis Blue is breathtaking. The flowers in each design are so delicate i wish I had both the butterflies and the flowers in my garden. Thanks for the giveaway and all you share.

    400
  324. Mary,
They are all beautiful! Blue is my favorite color in almost any shade, but the red flutter-by seems to be more defined to my tired eyes. I’d go for the red and the delicious strawberries!
Thank you for the opportunity to win something so beautiful.

  325. Yes, Spring is coming. Here on the Oregon coast we have flowers blooming already! I’d love to stitch that beautiful red butterfly and the strawberries to brighten up the rainy days still to come.

  326. Hi Mary,
I like the orange butterfly best! Makes me think of warmer weather ahead. Ver necessary after 2 weeks here of snow and ice, thaw yesterday, and this morning streets completely iced over. Instead of thinking of embroidery, or butterflies, I was thinking how to get to work in one piece.

    403
  327. It’s very close, between the orange and blue butterfly, but the little blueberries are what make the blue one my favorite. They are all wonderful though.

    404
  328. oh my for a change it is easy to pick my favorite… The African RED!!!!! I just love red ANYTHIng…lol.. and the strawberries? pretty sweet indeed. Her kits are great I hear so on my wish list. Thanks for a chance too.

    405
  329. So hard to decide which one I like best. I am attracted to red, but the blue one is calming and the orange is cheerful. I think I will have to choose the blue one. These are beautiful kits!

    406
  330. I love them all, but I like the red the best too! It’s the one I can see myself doing as a gift for my daughter.

    407
  331. i love all things blue so i guess that i guess I would have to pick the blue on but red is also a faborite acent color for me so…I red is a close accent.

    408
  332. Well Mrs Mary ; I can honestly say I have looked at all three for some time and I just cant pick a favorite the sticher in me loves all three. Im in front of the desert tray and I want it all

  333. The blue butterfly is awesome, with the white flower and blue-gray berries, it is my favorite. But they are all beautiful. Thank you Mary,

    Shelia in Oklahoma

    411
  334. Ahh, what a great opportunity 🙂
I like all 3, of course. they are all beautiful and either of them would be a dream of a project. But the 1st one is certainly very special thanks to the strawberries 🙂
    thank you, Mary!

    413
  335. Choosing one butterfly color is like selecting a single perfect truffle in a box of delectable chocolates. Each one, a feast for the eyes, feels irresistible. The vibrant red has a spark; the deep, rich blue is tranquil. The orange one, however, a little more subdued than the other two, would be my choice. It is most like real butterflies I’ve seen, and it is nestled on a dogwood blossom, the official state flower of Georgia, my home.

    414
  336. Oh my I am torn between the Adonis (that blue is divine) or the lovely Orange one!
I think the blue wins out though, and with a name like Adonis, who could begrudge 🙂

    415
  337. I consider myself a determined beginner of thread painting. I’m not much good at it yet, but I certainly intend to get proficient! The blue butterfly is so beautiful, although the red is certainly striking, too. But that blue calls out your name, begging to be touched. I think I started my foray into needle painting on too large a scale so this sweet little butterfly is perfect for what I need. Thank you and Trish for doing this for us, it really piques interest in this branch of embroidery.

    416
  338. I like the red one the best for the same reason as Mary–sooo RED. But I’d like to work the blue one because I know exactly where I’d like to display it in my home among some other cobalt blue items. It would be lovely–if I do the design justice with my beginner needlepainting skills. Thanks for the giveaway! Got you on an RSS feed and look forward to your post every morning!

    417
  339. Hello Mary,

While all three kits are lovely, I think the Adonis Blue one would work well in a room with chinoiserie elements. The blue is so lovely and intense, it can’t fail to be a focal point.

I drool over the Trish Burr books!

    Regards,
    Liz (Canada)

    418
  340. Hi Mary,

I love the blue butterfly, the colors are so vibrant and rich. I would like to try needle painting this year and I think this would be a great start. Thankyou!

    Sincerely,

    Melissa Bird

    419
  341. Oh, yes. It’s the red one. It’s just so delectably Red! What a treat it would be to stitch that one. They all are beautiful. Wouldn’t they look great all framed identically together on a wall?

    420
  342. Personally,my favorite color is blue so hence the blue butterfly. I have one kit by Trish Burr and love all the rest. Her long and short stitches are beautifully executed.

Thank you for all you do to make my life more enjoyable.

    422
  343. These kits are lovely. The shading appears to be so close to real life they look like they could fly away.

    423
  344. Although blue is always my favorite, the Orange Butterfly and Blossom win this tim. I’ve been trying to work “orange” pieces to develop a better understanding of the color. So far, so good. Also, my niece loves butterflies and especially polka dots…this one fits the bill! I’ve made her some lace, but haven’t stitched anything for her yet. She would love this piece and I’d love stitching one of Trish’s patterns.

    424
  345. I think the red butterfly with the strawberries is my favorite. As I sit looking out the window at 3″ of new snow, this reminder of summer is very appealing!

    425
  346. I am loving getting to grips with needlepainting and have long admired Trish Burr’s work. My sister loves anything at all to do with butterflies and I would love to o one of these kits as a present for her. Thank you for your generosity in all the free gifts you offer but even more for your generosity in sharing your skills – it is through your 9 lessons that I have been able to start learning to needlepaint and I am now doing a stole which I have esigned myself for a friend who is being ordained later this year.

    426
  347. I finally was able to buy Trish’s ‘Needle Painting Embroidery’ and it’s wonderful!!

Gosh, love all of the butterfly designs – am partial to red – but the orange seems to have a dogwood flower – the blue is pretty but the berries look like blueberries, which I don’t eat.

So — I sure would like to win ORANGE! Reminds me of the dogwood tree my children bought for me.

This would be a piece that I can learn on along with my new book! Thank you.

    427
  348. The African Red is different. I work on stumpwork most of the time with my butterflies and this one would be great in a picture. Trish’s butterflies and birds are wonderful! I have some of her books and help others with stitching. This is such a wonderful give-a-way from you. Thanks, Deb

    428
  349. I am just starting out trying my hand at long and short stitch shading. I have recently signed up for your newsletter and find it very informative. I am collecting my equipment and have realized that there is a shortage of supplies in my local town, so online seems to way to go. This kit would be awesome!!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with a newbie!

    429
  350. My nephew has been collecting butterflies since 5 yr old. He’s now 41 and a Phd. Would love to present this to he and his wife as an anniversary present. I personally love the ADONIS BLUE for the same reason – it looks like it’s floating in the material. Thank you for your wonderful site. I check it everyday and I’m amazed at the beautiful work. Mary

    430
  351. I love the Adonis. The. blues are iridescent.. A beauty only .. nature can create. We mortals can only do our best to recreate it.

    431
  352. They are all pretty, but I am partial to the red one…the little spray of greenery/berries really rounds out and balances the design. And I like the detailing on the butterfly wings. Scrumptious!
Definitely a project I can see finished, framed and hanging in my sewing room!

    432
  353. My favorite is by far the blue butterfly, mostly because my favorite color has always been blue. I did a butterfly of my own last fall as part of a class project, but mine was a monarch with seed stitch filling – nowhere near the level of these kits!

    433
  354. I think all three are lovely but my favorite is the African red butterfly with strawberries-a wonderful combination. I love how her strawberries go from red tips to whitish tops-looks so real. I would love to learn how to do those strawberries! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge

    436
  355. I love the Orange, maybe the blue or red. No definitely the Orange. I would be happy with any color!

    437
  356. I would love to win one of these projects! They are so incredibly beautiful. Your site has helped me so much in my embroidery projects. Thank you for sharing everything you do!

    438
    1. I would love to win one of these projects! They are so incredibly beautiful. My favorite is the vibrant orange. Your site has helped me so much in all of my embroidery projects. Thank you for sharing everything you do!

  357. Hey Mary

Pamela here from Sault Ste Marie, thanks for the encouragement that Spring is coming. While all three butterflies are beautiful the blue is my favourite.

    440
  358. Ever since you have written about Trish Burr and her amazing books and kits , I have been very interested to learn her techniques. Amazing, beautiful treasures.
Thank you for introducing all of us to a person of such talent

    441
  359. What a hard choice to make! Each one is beautiful and would be exciting to make. But, if I had to choose one, it would be the blue one. The butterfly looks like it is floating across the piece.

    443
  360. I like the red one best and with the strawberries it will be perfect to pair with the vintage strawberries!

    444
  361. I love the Adonis Blue butterfly because the colour reminds me of my little boys eyes when he was a tiny baby.

    445
  362. I like them all, but I really like the shading on the Orange Butterfly. Also I have a thing for Dogwoods. So i would have to say the Orange Butterfly & Blossom.

    446
  363. Hello Mary,
I do love all the butterflies!, If I win please choose for me. I just started doing long and short stitches, and I am learning from Trish Burr’s book. Thank you for giving us all this opportunity
    Thans a lot
    Elly B from Holland

    448
  364. We were just discussing Trish Burr’s designs at an EGA meeting on Saturday…Were you eavsdropping? My favorite is the red butterfly! I love red. Although I would be happy to win any of them.

    449
  365. I love the red butterfly. Since red is my favorite colore, the selection was a no-brainer 🙂

    450
  366. Hello,

I am following your website faithfully and learning so very much; wish I could retain every tiny bit of information given. The butterflies are beautiful and as a beginner I am trying very hard to learn shading. Traveling and visiting family in California at the present, my embroidery is with me and the butterflies arriving back in MIchigan when I return would be fantastic to see and help Spring return a little early – even while sewing and looking out at the snowy yard. The beautiful blue butterfly will certainly remind me that the sunny blue skies do arrive in Michigan.

    451
  367. Hello Mary ~. They are all beautiful…but to choose just one, it would be the blue one. I never win anything like this that I would really want….maybe with 3 chances I will be lucky
    Thank you and Trish
    Sharon – Modesto

    452
  368. All three are magnificent…but blue is my color. A delicate butterfly is perfect for the fine stitched of thread painting. The sight of a butterfly in my garden makes my spirit soar. Wilma B.

    453
  369. I love all three. The orange is my favorite. Orange is one of my favorite colors and the dogwood is the state flower of Virginia as well as a great sign of Spring.

    454
  370. My favorite is the red butterfly, however, all of them are beautiful. Thank you Trish for your generosity and thank you Mary, for taking the tasks of giveaways that make your readers very happy.

    455
  371. Hi Mary,
I love all the butterfly colors but if I need to choose one it would be the orange. I am a fan of fall colors and this butterfly would look great stitched and framed in my home!I love all the Trish Burr kits.
    Thanks,
    Mary Ann/ Cincinnati

    456
  372. Oh I do love Trish Burr’s designs and technique! The blue butterfly is my absolute fav. The blues just glow, and the flower and berries are the perfect understated backdrop. 🙂

    457
  373. The African Red is my favorite–mostly because of the strawberries since they complement one another so well. Thanks for the chance to win–one of these beautiful kits.

    458
  374. I like the red or orange one. These warm colors are used alot in my house. But I know i could find a spot for the blue one too 🙂

    459
  375. There are gorgeous! My eyes are drawn to blue butterfly. My daughter and I were talking about the colour of nature last weekend, that there are only few blue things out except birds and butterflies, not animals or vegetable ( maybe eggplant ) . Maybe the Creator thought the Sky and Ocean blue is enough for us. So blue things looks like a part of sky to me. I am taking time reading Trish Burr ‘s Color Confidence to learn more about thread painting. I am not a painter , but hope to learn to paint with threads.

    460
  376. I absolutely adore the blue butterfly – so vibrant and rich. I would love to win this kit! Thanks! Julie T.

    461
  377. All three butterflies are gorgeous! However, if I had to choose one, it would be the Adonis Blue. It really does look as if it is floating above the surface. I’d love to try my hand at thread painting.

    Cathie B in NC

    463
  378. I love the orange butterfly – the color scheme is one of my favorites and putting a white flower along with it is becautiful.

    464
  379. They are all so lovely. The red and orange are both gorgeous…but the iridescent blue on is calling me.

    466
  380. It’s a toss up between the red and the blue butterflies. I not only like the colors but I like the floral detail on these two. The thing is that Trish Burr’s work is always beautiful so all three are a prise.

    467
  381. This is a difficult choice to make, each of the three butterflies are beautiful. The vibrant red butterfly would be my choice. She (Trish Burr) has always had designs that I would be very proud to display. Winning a kit would give me the opportunity to finally do one of her projects.

    468
  382. I love the blue, but it could be that blue is my favorite color. There are so very many different hues of it! The other ones are cute, too, but still …. blue.

    469
  383. It is a toss up between the African Red have alwasy loved red and the Adonis Blue reminds me of my fathers eyes.

    470
  384. Oh Mary, what a hard question!!
I think I would have to say that the blue is my favourite – only because, as you say, it appears to be floating off the fabric.
Thank you for the opportunity to win.
    Blessings
    Maxine

    471
  385. That’s a hard question as they are all beautiful. Since blue is my favorite color, I’d have to choose that one.

    472
  386. Hi Marymentor:

Well, I must agree with you on loving the red. I particularly hope I can win this one as I’m still turning out “long/short” stitches that are “bumpy/lumpy”…so undaunted, I will continue to practice, practice, practice. Looking through books just makes me feel like a failure. It “looks” so easy, but Jeez, I really need the practice. Thanks for this one.

  387. These bring back memories of the day I spent in a butterfly house in Ohio.It is considered good luck each time a butterfly lands on us.I was so lucky to experience six landings.I am wishing for the red butterfly kit to bestow good luck on me this time.Thank you Mary, for the great offer.Judy-in-FRENCHTOWN.

    475
  388. Hi Mary, I have long wanted to try my hand at Trish’s needlepainting! I think my very of the three is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. I love the color blue: the sky, some water, flowers, clothes, embroidery threads!!! Thanks for the chance to win one of these gorgeous kits:)

    476
  389. I love the red butterfly the best because it comes complete with little strawberries! Adorable!

    Thank you for the chance!

    477
  390. Goodness…how to choose one from those three exquisite butterflies? One…maybe the Orange Blossom butterfly? I may have changed my mine in 5 minutes – or less! How kind of Trish to give these.

    478
  391. Oh how I love butterflies! Have you ever seen a flock of Monarchs? We lived in Goleta California for several years, which is on the outskirts of Santa Barbara. Monarchs gather by the thousands! My young life was spent between Arizona and California and both have a lot of butterflies. The Arizona Swallowtails have many different varieties and all are amazing. I would love to have any of Trish Burr’s wonderful patterns as they bring to life the butterflies of my youth.

    480
  392. I like the orange butterfly and that beautiful dogwood flower in the background. It reminds me of the woods and the flowers like that dot the forest floor here in Alaska..and it is a reminder of spring as I look out the window and watch the snowflakes fall. The red and blue ones are just lovely too.

    482
  393. I would go for the beautiful blue butterfly. The combination with the creamish flower and the blue berries are wonderful. I’m just waiting for the butterfly to take off and enjoy that flower too 🙂

    483
  394. I’d love the chance to work the Adonis Blue
Butterfly, the deep blue is very bright and
the black along the edges really shows up.
The flower & berries are a nice touch also.

    484
  395. I like the red butterfly the best. The strawberries are great. Strawberries are always a great design element. However, I like the orange one pretty well, too. Not the blue one at all. The blue is just too intense for my taste.

    485
  396. I would have to agree with you Mary, the African Red is my favorite. I am longing to try needlepainting and have asked for Trish’s books for my birthday!
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    486
  397. The beautiful Red African is my favourite, i have admired Trish’s work for a while now, her perfect needlepainting is to be looked at in awe. I am in New Zealand and tho our butterflies are beautiful they are not this colour at all. and as its the middleof summer here what better than strawberries. Thanks for running this great offer.

    487
  398. The blue butterfly is my favorite one. It matches the color of my eyes. Someday I hope to do a Trish Burr kit & spread my stitching wings a little further. I’m wishing me luck!!!

    488
  399. Oh my goodness, these are just stunning! I would be happy with any of these! But if I have to pick one it would be Adonis Blue. A big thank you to you and Trish Burr for such a wonderful giveaway!

    489
  400. Adonis Blue Butterfly is my favorite!! It is so pretty. I would love to have one of these kits.

    490
  401. Me?? I’m bonkers for the color blue in my husband’s eyes, butterflies that frequent our gardens, and blueberries that grow in my yard late Spring. This will be my first try at thread painting and what a beautiful kit to work with. Trish Burr’s work is exquisite and I will accomplish the technique should I be chosen the winner. Here’s hoping. . .
    Me??
    I’m Carolyn in WV

    491
    1. I’m Carolyn in WV
I forgot to say that it is the Adonis Blue Butterfly that has me all atwitter! You probably got the hint!! Thanks for this great opportunity to learn a new technique.

  402. The orange butterfly is my favorite! I like the dark detailing. Are ghose franch knots in there? Thanks for your newsletter. Makes me excited for my projects!
    Diane Williams

    493
  403. We’re having snow and a “wintery mix” here today so it’s cheery to see your “spring is coming” give away. I’d be delighted to receive any of the butterfly kits but the blue on is my favorite. Blue’s my favorite color but I also particularly like how the blueberries are worked and how the edges of the flower petals appear to turn.

    494
  404. The blue butterfly is my absolute favorite. But all 3 are beautiful and would be great fun to stitch.

    495
  405. First of all thanks for giving us the opportunity to win one of these beauties. I love the red… no, wait… I love the blue… no, wait… I love the orange. Gosh, darn… decisions, decisions! Okay, if I must, then I want the orange. I am a total beginner, but would love to win and stitch and display it proudly on my living room wall.

    496
  406. I love all butterfly’s but the Adonis Blue looks beautiful in the kit form I will keep all that is cross-able crossed hoping I am lucky this time.

    Beb (Yorkshire)

    499
  407. I love the blue butterfly. It does look like it is floating. I love anything in a cobalt or Wedgwood blue (bluebirds are a particular favorite).

    500
  408. Just recently came across a stitching pattern with the following writing and it goes like this:
“If nothing ever changed there would be no butterflies”. Isn’t it the truth? Beautiful colors.

    502
  409. Hi Mary from Jerusalem. The blue is my favourite one, it’s joyful and elegant at the same time, actually they all are.

    503
  410. It’s so hard to choose a favorite. I think the orange one by a narrow margin, but they are all so beautiful!

    505
  411. While I would be thrilled with any of the butterflies, the blue called my name. After looking steadily-how could I look away- I realized it was because of the composition. the flowers are great with their touch of acid green and the small budlet/berry things give the whole thing a nice balance.
    Bette

    506
  412. The butterfly that i like the best is the red one as I have just moved and red is the accent colour that I am using in my home. But in saying that i do like the fire colours of the last butterfly and have enjoyed embroidering with this combination. The blue is also very nice. it is just too hard to pick as they are all so lovely.

    507
  413. Hi Mary, My name is Tracie and I’m originally from Denver but have been living in the Netherlands for the last 20 some years. I love checking in on you every day to see what you are up to! The butterflies are beautiful as is all work by Trish Burr. My favorite is the Orange Butterfly. As I’ve never done any needlepainting, but have it top of my list, this looks like a great way to start a new passion. Good luck to all!

    509
  414. RED, RED, RED…..It is my favorite color. Those butterflys look like they could just flutter away…beautiful! I’d choose the red!!!
    Grace from Minnesota

    510
  415. Barbara Warner of MO here – I like the orange butterfly with what looks like a dogwood blossom. They are part of the habitat here in MO – and the embroidery kit would be a challenge to me to do the long and short stitches.

    512
  416. I love the blue butterfly the best. I am always drawn to this deep royal blue color in everything from needlework to dishes!

    513
  417. The African Red one is my favorite. I love butterfies and moths too. I have a number of books about them. Thank you and Trish too.

    514
  418. The Blue Adonis is my favourite – not because of the butterfly (who could honestly choose between those lovely butterflies) but because of the flower. I have wanted to learn from Trish for so long and I like the shading in that particular flower. I think that I could learn best from that one.

    515
  419. Every time I see a butterfly, I think of my sister-in-law who passed away from colon cancer. I would be thrilled with any of the colors, but blue was her favorite color.

    Thanks for another wonderful opportunity!

    517
  420. Polly from Canada…I love all of Trish Burr’s kits especially the butterflies! My hubby nicknamed me his little butterfly because I used to travel so far away from home to work. 🙂 I’ll pick the blue butterfly because my favorite colour is blue and I also love blueberries..but all 3 of them are beautiful!
Thanks Mary and Trish for being my inspiration to my lovely hobby of embroidery !!!

    518
  421. Blue! My all time favourite colour. I have Trish’s book on choosing colours for needlework which has some gorgeous combinations. One of my goals this year is to try her needlepainting technique and one of her gorgeous kits would be a great place to start! Thank you so much to you both for the opportunity to win one these fab designs.
    Liz Smith

    519
  422. My choice is simple, the African Red Butterfly. Africa (Sudan) being my country of birth and strawberries and their flowers are my favourite fruit and stitching design.

    520
  423. The butterflies are all lovely, but I like the blue one the best. Anything Trish Burr does is lovely and I would be happy to actually get to make one of her kits. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

    521
  424. Stephanie in N Vancouver– I love Trish Burr’s designs. How to choose as I would be thrilled with any one of them but I think if I had to choose it would be the red one, I like the details on the wings and you can never go wrong with strawberries.

    522
  425. I LOVE the red butterfly. It seems more vibrant than serene, which I like. Having said that, the other two are very beautiful. The red is just so . . . Sammy Hagar:

“You don’t know what it does to me . . .
    that crimson sin intensity
    I’m haunted by the mystery . . .
the mystery of red, red, red”

  426. What a beautiful collection. Any of them would put a spring in your step either looking forward to doing one or hanging it on the wall when it was finished.
One of the first things I ever cross stitched 20 years ago were tiny butterflies. I still have them and the pattern I used!

    524
  427. The butterfly I like the most is… Ohhh,
I cannot choose! The three are so beautiful…

    525
  428. HiMary,
Trish’s kits are wonderful!! Since blue is my favorite color, then the blue butterfly is my favorite. However, I would gladly love to win any of the kits you’ll be giving away. Thanks so much for all of the great giveaways!

    Linda from Maine

    526
  429. I love Trish Burr’s embroidery, I’m a big fan!
It’s very hard to choose between the three, but I do like the Adonis blue butterfly!

I have had Trish Burr’s books out of the library, lots of times !

    527
  430. All these butterflies are beautiful. I just love Trish Burr’s designs and books. My favorite is the orange butterfly but only by the slimmest margin.

    528
  431. Hi Mary-
I’d choose the strawberry red set, if I were to be so lucky as to win! thanks- Cynthia

    529
  432. I think these butterflies look wonderful. I like the red one and I think the strawberries are an added bonus.

  433. Oh,only one favorite? They’re all beautiful! I have never done needle painting, but I love, love, love Trish Burr’s projects! (Thank you, Mary, for introducing me to Trish’s work!)
I guess I would choose the red butterfly, because we just updated our kitchen and that splash of red would be just the accent I need on my wall. Of course, the orange would work too, and who could resist that luscious blue…

    531
  434. All I can say is awesome, beautiful. My mother would love the birds and my sister would love the butterflies. Thank You for always showing so much information. Janice

    532
  435. These butterflies are simply stunning! What a way to spend a cold winter day – stitching a little colorful springtime!

    533
  436. Oh to decide…Well I like all three and they would each be a fun stitch! The Blue is probably my favorite. the color is so vibrant and the white flowers so sweet.

Thank You so much for the opportunity.

    535
  437. Kaity C from Oregon here! My favorite is the orange one. Mostly because dogwoods are my favorite flowers.

    536
  438. My favourite is the Adonis blue. It reminds me of happy afternoons doing butterfly surveys on our local common for one of the conservation trusts. The summers have been dreadful in the UK recently…very cold and wet… and the butterflies have really struggled. Some have hardly bred at all and others haven’t survived the winter because the damp kills them and they rot in thier crysalis without hatching out. Just so sad!
I’d hate to think the only ones I will see are the ones I stitch but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a better summer for me and the butterflies and if it is another wet one then it would be lovely to have one of Trish’s wonderful kits to keep me occupied until the rain stops and I can go out to count real butterflies instead.

    537
  439. Aaahh . The beautiful red one.
The blue one does look like it is floating on air.
Thank you for always sharing. Of yourself and others.

    538
  440. Hi Mary

Why do you always make things hard to choose?!? but I think I would have to choose the Adonis Blue Butterfly as this would suit my next project.

    Regards

    Chris B

    539
  441. I love the orange butterfly. It is similar to those that appear in my garden in spring and stay until late autumn.

    540
  442. The butterflies are all beautiful but my preference would go to the red butterfly with strawberries.
Mary thank you for your blog ; your tips are so valuable for us.

    543
  443. The orange butterfly makes my heart sing.
It speaks to me of Autumn and another hot summer survived and behind and delicious days ahead

    544
  444. Dear Mary,
All of the butterflies are beautiful, but I love the colors in the Orange Butterfly & Blossom kit. Thank you and thank you to Trish for this lovely giveaway.
    Peg in NJ

    545
  445. La mariposa azul me parece las mas bonita por el color, ademas me encantan las moras azules y las flores. Gracias por lo que de esta pagina podemos aprender y por tus regalos

    546
  446. Those are all gorgeous, but if I absolutely had to pick a favorite I would go for the blue one.

    548
  447. Hi Mary,
Thanks for another great competition. I like the red african butterfly and strawberries best, because I love strawberries, both to eat aa0nd embroider I think it is all to dowith their colour and flavour of the real thing. Then there is Trish Burr thrown in to design, what a bargain.
    Helen.

    549
  448. OMG!! I love the orange butterfly! I would love to make this and frame it for my childhood friend. She means the world to me, she is so kind hearted, loving and a beautiful person.

    551
  449. I love the blue Adonis Butterfly. It shimmers as it flutters. Perfect. I love blues and purples.
And it’s summer in NZ now so our butterflies all already here and fluttering!!!
    🙂

    552
  450. Oh that’s a no-brainer – RED! And RED with strawberries? wow – total no-brainer, 2 of my favorite things. Add Trish Burr into the mix and holy cow – it’s a win/win/win!!! Well, someone will – I hope it’s me!!!! 🙂

    554
  451. Mary,

My favorite is the blue one, as it reminds me of the blue morpho butterflies from South America. But I wouldn’t say no to either of the others should I get lucky!

    556
  452. What a difficult choice – they are all exquisite! I think I’ll choose the orange one with the beautiful dogwood blossom. Trish Burr is one very talented designer – I’d love to win any of her kits.

    557
  453. I love the Adonis blue. A blue butterfly is unusual. I use to live in Monterey where Monarch (orange) butterflies are abundant so the Adonis blue is a beautiful contrast.

    558
  454. They are all beautiful but I absolutely LOVE the blue butterfly. The blue color is so rich.
    Mary

    562
  455. Hi Mary, if I were in my LNS, my hand would automtically pick up the blue butterfly, but then my heart would complain about not getting the kit with the strawberries and then my head would say “Make up your mind, we can only afford one!!” then finding that I was unable to make a decision, I would not buy either 🙁

One of these days I will buy a kit/pattern and stitch it up as it has been designed. Maybe!

    Marian (NZ)

    563
  456. The orange butterfly is my favorite, but not for the coloration of the butterfly. I think the blossom shown with it is a dogwood, and I love the symbolism of the butterfly and the dogwood together. That said, I do think the orange color lovely and would be very happy to have that kit.

    564
  457. I like them all but the blue butterfly with the blueberry is my favorite. My parrot and I both love to eat blueberries right off the bush. We sneak out when the Mockingbird isn’t looking to pick.

Another season is coming, my one blueberry bush is in bloom.

    566
  458. Hi Mary,

I love the drama of the red butterfly. Perhaps I also love it because red is my favorite color in all it’s tones and shades.

My needlework guild has lovely social stitch-ins and I’m looking for something small to stitch at them. Hopefully it will be the RED BUTTERFLY!

Thank you, Mary, for your great site and all your generosity!

Victoria Gemmell, North Vancouver, BC Canada

    568
  459. I love the blue butterfly. I am a blue person. At one time,my whole wardrobe was blue and lavender. Right now, my bedroom is lavender.

The orange butterfly is a close second. He could go in my yellow office. I just do not like red, though I do like strawberries.

    569
  460. It’s really hard to decide which is my favorite. Blue is my favorite color, and the blue butterfly would do well in my bedroom, but the orange one would look lovely in my living room! If I have to pick only one, I’ll go with the blue – but any of them would be fun to stitch!
    Mary in MN

    571
  461. I like the blue one best. Reminds me of the one that was flying around my house this past summer!

    572
  462. I love all three of them. Butterflies and birds are my weakness. I used to chase them when I was young…hahahaha..I’d be one lucky gal to win Trish Burr’s butterflies. I love the one with the strawberry. Its gorgeous!

    Thank you,
    -Meeta

    573
  463. As a member of our local embroidery group we are working toward our next exhibition next year, with the theme of strawberries. Our town celebrates the Cherry and Strawberry Festival, both fruits are grown here and brings thousands of people for the festivities for 2 days. Therefore the African Red Butterfly would make a wonderful exhibit.

    574
  464. I always chhose any colour as long as it’s red, so for me it’s The African Red Butterfly.

In Nz we are in summer coming into Autumn but there are still plenty of lovely butterflies and moths about.

    575
  465. Dear Mary,

I love the red butterfly. Red is such a beautiful color and strawberries are so tasty and lovely. However, the blue butterfly and the orange butterfly are also beautiful. Aren’t all butterflies and flowers beautiful.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Fran

    576
  466. I would be overjoyed to win any one of these wonderful butterflies! Each seems to have its own variety of design and opportunity to learn more about the long/short stitch. I recently completed a long/short stitch project portraying our dear departed dalmatian, who once “ate a quilt.” I can look at this project and see that I could stand to have a little expert tutorage on this stitch!

    577
  467. I have just found your website and I enjoy it very much. The butterfly kits are beautiful, but my favorite is the orange one because it looks so much like a Monarch butterfly.

    578
  468. I have admired Trish Burr for a long time and have several of her books. If I won a kit, maybe I would actually get up the nerve to try her techniques. I love all the butterflies, but the orange one just speaks of a hot summer day to me.

    579
  469. After changing my mind several times, I have decided on the African Red Butterfly. They are all so gorgeous!

    581
  470. Dear Mary,
I cherish the Orange Butterfly and Blossom kit. I particularly love butterflies because the metamorphosis reminds me of the resurrection of Christ. On the Orange Butterfly and Blossom the blossom looks like the dogwood flower–the symbol for Christ, as well! Thank you for this give-away! What fun!

    582
  471. Gosh they are so pretty. I love red and thus have a red car with a red snowman ornament hanging in there. But I love blue too because it’s refreshing. But when it comes to these butterflies, I love that hot orange one. It has a definite glow to it.

    584
  472. Thanks very much Mary for your giveaways. Such fun!
My favorite is the African Red Butterfly.

    586
  473. Hi Mary, I so much would love to win the blue butterfly but then again I wouldn’t mind which colour as they are all beautiful.

I love butterflies..at the moment I have the Monarch butterfly caterpillars in the garden.
It is such a privilege to watch the changes leading up to a beautiful butterfly.

    587
  474. I love the blue one. I would love to try and do one of Trish Burr’s kits. Simply stunning.

    588
  475. I LOVE the blue butterfly. Needlepainting is an exquisite art that I always wanted to try. What a super opportunity. This piece is beautiful. How lovely this would look in my bedroom. My passion is handwork of all kinds. I hope I win.

    591
  476. I can’t believe this! My favorite butterflies! I love, love, love them and there is one in my favorite color – BLUE!

I sure want to win this! I can see that beautiful butterfly framed and hanging over my desk so that I can admire it all day! That would be so great!

    Oh I hope I win, I hope I win, I hope I win!

I would give this blue butterfly a fabulous home!

    592
  477. Hi Mary! All the butterflies are beautiful…but my favorite would be the orange one. I would like to do a Monarch, too!

    593
  478. I LOVE Trish Burr. I adore the Adonis Blue Butterfly but I would honestly be happy to stitch any one of these beautiful pieces as they are each quite exquisite.

    595
  479. I love the blue one! I can’t explain why …. I ALWAYS love strawberries better than blueberries but …. somehow, the blue one has stolen my heart!

    596
  480. We, here in Australia are at the end of summer and the fields are filled with clouds of the orange tip butterflies at the moment. They swirl around my head as I go out to check on our new calves and remind me that the autumnal colours are not far away. So the orange butterfly is the one I would most like to sew. I have not done needlepainting before but it looks wonderuful and I look forward to having a project for when winter arrives and I cannot get out onto the farm so often.

    Jennifer Painter

    597
  481. Mary,
I love that last orange butterfly with the little white flower. How great that would be sewn into a little pillow on my bed. Thank you so much for another wonderful give away.
    Please, please pick me!!

    598
  482. The red is georgeous, BUT..the third one…with the added yellow touch..reminds me of a georgeous Texas sunset…

    599
  483. A difficult decision, all are gorgeous, but the red one… I don’t know why, but I can not look away from this butterfly. Well, maybe because red is my favorite color.
    Thanks for this great giveaway

    601
  484. Oh, I can’t decide between the blue and the orange! The blue is so vivid, but the orange is really lovely too!

    602
  485. I love the African Red Butterfly!Even looking at it on my email makes me want to see her kit up close! I love butterflies, but didn’t know there were any of this beautiful a shade of red.I’m into embroidery with reds mainly, but it’s hard to find anything like this on my TINY sewing budget!

    604
  486. I love them all, their all so bright and happy.
My favourite would have to be the orange blossom though. Orange is my favourite colour and here in Australia I see a lot of beautiful orange and black butterflies. Next would have to be red and then blue. They would make a beautiful complete set, all together…
I just love this site and every morning I wake and check my emails to see what new subject I have to learn….thank you..

    605
  487. Hi
I think all three butterfly kits are beautiful. But the blue colors in Adonis blue butterfly is my choice. Thank You

    606
  488. I just love the blue butterfly–there is something about the design that makes the butterfly look so real and about to immediately take flight!

    607
  489. I absolutely love the richness of the coloring of the blue butterfly. Orange is not my favorite color, although I do like Monarch butterflies, and the red is just too – well – red!

    608
  490. HI! I just love Trish Burr design! The Adonis Blue Butterfly is the one for me (love blue)!
Thank-you for the chance to win!
    Elise

    609
  491. Hi Mary
I am a huge fan of Trish’s having been so privileged to do her first on line course with her so know her work very well. The butterflies are all lovely but I am an autumn shade girl so I would go for the orange / yellow one or even the red – the warm colours are for me! We can all do with a bit of warmth in this desperate weather but a you said it makes you think spring is around the corner – do hurry it up!
    All the best
    Eleanor

    611
  492. Mary, I would be happy to get anyone but looking at all three I think the orange butterfly and blossom as it would test my my shading a tad more than the other two. Besides I do love orange. No bad oranges it is just a colour that has to find its place.

I collected butterflies as a youngster and my beautiful Papilio Blue Ulysses and several other Australian species sit on my wall. Last of my quite vast collection. Good memories.

    612
  493. Hi! My favorite is the Adonis Blue butterfly–it’s simply striking!! I’d love to stitch that little butterfly!!

    613
  494. I’m in love with that Adonis Blue Butterfly! It looks like it’s about to flutter off of the fabric.

    614
  495. Trish Burr is one of my painting with thread hero’s! i would love to win the blue one. It reminds me of the blue skies, beautiful fauna and flora of Cape Town.

    616
  496. Hello Mary,

I dearly love the Adonis Blue Butterfly it shares a vibrational splendour as if it hovers life like beside the blossoms. There is the feel of being drawn beyond the artists talent into a realm where materialising ones thought births it’s own perfection.

    Cheers
    Julie

    618
  497. The Orange Butterfly looks stunning, and I would like the chance for it to fulter into my home.

    619
  498. WOW!!! The kits are real nice looking. It’s hard to choose which I like best, but if pushed I like the Blue best. Thanks for the chance to win. Neena

    620
  499. I just love the rich colours of that blue butterfly. Would love to have such a fabulous opportunity to try out Trish’s lovely design. Thank you.

    621
  500. Hi Mary!
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a beautiful kit!! I LOVE the orange butterfly, but it really is a moot point because they are all sooooooooo lovely!
    Happy “almost” spring!
    Diana in Sioux Falls

    622
  501. I just love the Adonis Blue Butterfly – and the blueberries!

Some short and long practice would be terrific,
thanks to you and Trish for the chance to win.

    623
  502. Blue is my colour but certainly not my temperament so it has to be the heavenly Adonis Blue. My gift to you & your readers is to suggest a beautiful novel to read,
Lady of the Butterflies by Fiona Mountain.

    625
  503. Although the butterflies are all stunning, I think my favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. I love the way it seems to float off the background fabric….and….I just love blue!
    Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

    626
  504. I love her work, she is so talented. Although I like all the butterflies I think the blue is marginally my favourite The colour is so vivid, you just want to touch it.
    Love the site.
    Ann

    627
  505. I’d have to say the orange one because of it’s “see me now” colors, all bright and cheery!

    628
  506. I just received Trish Burr’s book and am working on the practice pieces. I love the orange butterfly and this would give me the inspiration to learn how to do soft shading.
Thank you Mary for the opportunity. Now to wait for Friday, (sigh)

    Gail S

    629
  507. Omigosh…all three are gorgeous, but if I have to pick, I think the ‘Adonis’ would be my favorite. I would love to win this kit; I have recently purchased all of Trish Burr’s books, and am just looking for the right day to pick up needle and get stitching. This would be just the perfect way to start! Thanks for the opportunity.

    630
  508. Hello Mary! I like the blue butterfly the best because well, blue is my favorite color. My mother named me sky because she loved how the sky was always pure, blue, and mysterious.Blue means a lot to me. Thank You!! 🙂

    631
  509. Hi Mary,

I love the blue Adonis butterfly!!!

Trish Burr has beeeeautiful stuff!!! Thank you for the give away. 🙂

    Blessings,
    Jen in OR

    632
  510. I am new to this website but already LOVE it for all Wonderful tips, instructions, patterns and advice. I also have newly discovered Trish Burr and her beautiful thread painting. Lovely & inspiring!! My daughter and I are so amazed by her work and would like to grow up to stitch just like her and Mary Corbet.

Here’s to wishing on a star for butterflies in my mailbox!!!

    633
    1. I see I forgot to chose a favorite butterfly they are all so gorgeous … such a dilemma to pick one. If I must choose it will have to be the Adonis Butterfly… LOVE the blue hues and it does look like he is about to flutter off of the fabric. LOVELY.

  511. All those butterflies are beautiful, but I especially like the red one. The strawberries are so cute! Thank you for the chance to win. 🙂

    634
  512. I love all of them but my favorite is the Adonis Butterfly – my favorite shade of blue. I also love the white flowers. You are correct it just floats above the fabric. I love Trish Burr’s work and love the thread painting technique. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of the kits.

    635
  513. Orange and Blossom’s my favorite!

Thanks to Trish Burr for offering this up for us, and you Mary for supporting her on your site. You’re both awesome talents.

    636
  514. So beautiful If I won I will have to buy the Dublin craft light. Will love to star that kind of work again. Seeing the colors makes my mouth water I wonder if the project is waterproof. Thank you for sharing the beauty of neddlework Juliet

    637
  515. Blue butterfly please I am in love with anything blue. I also love Trish’s lovely kits but afraid to start.X

    638
  516. My daughter’s partner loves the colour orange. So I hope it would not be sissy to embroider this beautiful butterfly for him and Nicole.

    639
  517. The African Red Butterfly is absolutely stunning! I most definitely cannot let this one fly away as I love Butterflies!. I love all of the bright colors, the beautiful flowers, and the Strawberries go so well with this. I would be so thrilled to add this as one of my first embroidering projects :).

    640
  518. I like the orange butterfly and blossom. Trish Burr is the queen of long/short shading and I greatly admire her work. I hope one day to be able to emulate her expertise.

    641
  519. The butterflies are all wonderful and touchable. My favorite is the red with strawberries and oh those beautiful blossoms.

    642
  520. All of the butterflies are just gorgeous!! My favorite color is blue, but I would be hard pressed to pick just one of these beauties as my favorite. I would be honored to win any one of them. I’m just a novice at needle painting, so winning one of these kits would go a long way in advancing my skills!
    Julie H

    643
  521. How could you ask us which one we like the best, there all Trish Burr’s….Oh my, this is a hard one but I guess I could do this if I looked at it from the angle of the fruit; strawberry, orange, or blueberry. Oh, even that is hard I like oranges and strawberries, blueberries not so much , but I like the Adonis Blue Butterfly…Oh boy, I guess if I have to pick just one…one moment I have to look at them again…ahh….Ok, I’ve looked three times now, even though I not really into blueberries I just can’t remove them from my choice, so I am going to pick them. Now, I think I will go and make myself a tea.

    645
  522. I love the blue one, but the other two are also beautiful. I’d be so thrilled to win any of the three!

    646
  523. I like the Adonis Blue butterfly because of it’s bright color. This is something I have wanted to try, and winning this will make me try something different.

    647
  524. wow i love the way trish burr’s needlework has the look of stumpwork and padding without all the wires and the pain of not getting the padding quite balanced. All are beautiful needlework projects but the orange butterfly has the luminescence that makes it work for me as a standout project. marg

    649
  525. Definately the blue butterfly–I love the intensity of the color.
Thanks for the chance to win.

    650
  526. All three butterflies appear so delicate and beautiful. However, my favorite would be the Orange Butterfly, it looks like a sunset floating across the sky.

    651
  527. the Adonis blue butterfly is beautiful.I think they are all very nice but the blue really struck me more so than the others.Thank you for the opportunity to possibly win one.

    652
  528. Oh.. difficult choice. I love the African Red butterfly, plus it has strawberries… but… the shading of the Orange Butterfly and blossom is so beautiful, I think that must be my absolute favorite!

    654
  529. I love the orange butterfly. I have done a bit of needlepainting embroidery and would love to embroider the beautiful butterfly and to make it look so perfect.

    656
  530. Oh Mary, how can one choose which is the favorite? I can’t, each has its own beauty and would be a joy to stitch. Thanks for the beautiful give away.

    657
  531. It’s so hard to choose, all three are gorgeous. I would have to agree with you though Mary, the saturated colors in the African red butterfly kit are stunning!

    658
  532. I love the look of the red butterfly. My kitchen is decorated in strawberries and the red butterfly would look great on the wall once I got a chance to work it up.

    660
  533. Such a hard choice, since all 3 are just gorgeous. But if I have to pick a favorite, I’ll pick the blue butterfly. Would love to stitch all of them!

    661
  534. The blue butterfly is my favorite! It appears to be “glowing”. Thanks for offering the give away. I love the simplicity of straight stitches.

    663
  535. All three of these butterfly kits are gorgeous, and all three bring wonderful memories to mind; the red: picking strawberries with my sister for $0.25 a quart, on a hot July day; the orange: walking in the Garden District in New Orleans the 2nd January after Katrina; but my favorite HAS to be the blue. Last summer we took our (since the kids have grown) annual motorcycle trip to a little campground in Maine. Our first night was wonderful, until my hubby put the kickstand down in the grass in front of our cabin. The bike kept going over and my shoulder hit the ground…shattering into 9 fragments. A not- so- quick trip to the nearest hospital (50 miles) determined that I could take a plane home or sit on the porch in ME for the duration of our vacation. I chose to sit on the porch (well medicated) and watch the scenery…which included several beautiful BLUE butterflies! I’m not sure if they are the same kind, but they certainly look as if they are. Those blue butterflies were one of the high points of a not-so-memorable vacation. I was in so much pain that I didn’t even eat the fresh lobster the owner had caught especially for me one day. The blue butterfly kit, made up and framed would have special place of honor in my sewing sanctuary.

    664
  536. My favorite is the Adonis Blue Butterfly. Blue butterflies have always fascinated me. I’ve only seen them in the Butterfly Pavilion in Colorado….mostly I just dream about them.

    665
  537. Dear Mary,
Another beautiful give away, I like Trish Burr’s work she is a talented lady, I am very much a beginner in this technique, I love the way the threads and colours blend together, the butterfly I like the most although the choice was very difficult is the “orange butterfly” with the orange blossom, I like the deep orangy firey colours of this butterfly, and I hope becomes mine.
    Flora C. Australia

    668
  538. I like the Adonis blue butterfly. The first time I saw it, I was wondering if it was a stumpwork butterfly. Having the same thought, it floats on the fabric.

    669
  539. The Adonis Blue butterfly. It reminds of me when I lived in Papua New Guinea and we would go to the National Park for a picnic and blue butterflies likes this came and settled on our shoulders. Beautiful!

    670
  540. Trish Burr is one of my favourist needle women , there’s is not one of her works of art that I don’t like, and in these 3 beautiful butterflies its so hard to say which one tears at my heart the most,so what if I leave the decision to you. If I win I will absolutely be delighted to receive one of them
    Thank you
    Love n hugs bear xoxoxoxo

    671
  541. Hi Mary,
I love all three but my absolute favourite is the orange one! Thanks to you and Trish for the opportunity to win one of these amazing kits.
    Cheers,
    Judy

    672
  542. The Adonis Blue is so beautiful. The flowers with it remind me of dogwood blooms. I miss those. I moved from North Carolina to the Upper Penisula in Michigan about 12 years ago. There aren’t any dogwoods up here. I bought the Trish Burr book “Needle Painting Embroidery – Fresh Ideas for Beginners” I have loved it so far. I have worked through the first 5 lessons. I am on the sixth one right now. What a great book!
I would love to do one of the butterfly projects as well.

    673
  543. I love the Adonis Blue Butterfly. I would love to win it, too. Thank you for the opportunity. From Cheryl in San Diego

    674
  544. Hi Mary,

Well, I am a fool for blue. Blue apparently is the most beloved color — I think it has something to do with the human eye being able to recognize many variations of its tints and shades. Psychologically, I think it helps us to feel serene. While I am a renegade in that I resist this tendency with loving lilac, lilac -pinks, violet-reds with a passion, I just sometimes still succumb to blue, (sigh). So that means “Adonis,” is my chosen favorite of the three, (though, once again, the orange flame butterfly stirs me up). Also, I love the folded petal and upside-down flower in Adonis.
Thanks so much for your generous give-a-way! And, yes — I hope Spring comes soon!

  545. That is a beautiful shade of blue! I love it! Thanks for the chance to bring it home. Here, little butterfly, flit over to me! lol.

    676
  546. The Orange Butterfly and Blossom is my favorite. Every year at our ranch in West Texas the Monarchs use the trees around the house to rest as the migrate. At times the trees are ablazed with the orange color. Often there are so many butterflies on a branch one cannot see the branch or leaves around it. This finished piece would make a wonderful addition to the ranchhouse. Hard to not love the other two, too!

    677
  547. While all three butterflies are lovely I prefer the orange one as it reminds me of the butterflies I see in my area.

    678
  548. I would be honored to have the Blue Adonis to sew. I make butterflies out of stained glass at my local senior center to sell, where I teach stained glass. I volunteer 2 days a week and sell the butterflies so we can buy more stained to use. So I would very much love to stitch a butterfly for myself to keep. I have always admired Trish Burr and her needle painting. I know I could never stitch as well as she does but would like to try.

    680
  549. I love them all but the orange one speaks to me the most! Her items are so beautiful! thanks for all you do Mary. Love your website and all your informational and eye-candy posts!

    682
  550. I’m in love with that orange butterfly and its orange blossom! Reminds me of the orange groves all around my former home in AZ.

    683
  551. While the blue is striking and the orange brings to mind Easter and the blooms of Spring, the red is almost alive with aromas and flavors. I wonder if I could do it justice.

    684
  552. Oo, all three are amazing! I think I like the red butterfly with the strawberries best – such a rich color!
    Thanks Mary 🙂

    686
  553. These are awesome. The colors are very eye-catching. Way to go Trish! As a novice in embroidering these look easy and the results are beautiful. Thanks for allowing us a chance to win!

  554. Hi there!
I really can’t decide which kit I like the best – they’re all so gorgeous! The red is exciting, the blue calming, and the orange earthy.
I’m experienced in crewel, cross-stitch and needlepoint, but I’ve never done needlepainting before, and I’d love to learn. Thank you for this opportunity!
    -Bonnie D. in Virginia, USA

    689
  555. I love the red butterfly! Actually I love all three. But, I needle painted a monarch, and now I would love to do a blue butterfly just like the Adonis Blue. 🙂

    690
  556. Since the weather here is dreary, misty, freezing rain, and it makes one feel a bit blue, there’s nothing more perfect than to think of spring, and the return of butterflies, flowers and delicious berries. The blue butterfly is the perfect one to chase those “winter blues” away! Thanks for the great give away, Mary and Trish!

    691
  557. Blue is my favorite – but I have to say that the combination of all three is very striking! They are beautiful!

    692
  558. Thank you so much for your instruction videos! I have done embroidery for several years now, but your videos have helped with stitches that I have had trouble with.

    693
  559. Thanks for acquiring this lovely gove away! They are all so lovely, but
The blue one appeals to me for two reasons. One is that blue is my
Favorite color, the other is that for some reason it looks more three
Dimensional then the others, like it is lifting off the fabric. Would be
In butterfly heaven to win one of these kits.

    694
  560. Goodness, I don’t even know! Usually I really go for blue, but that red is gorgeous and the orange is lovely. I’m going to vote for the RED–the strawberry is the deciding factor!

    695
  561. Hi Mary, As always, thanks for the giveaway! The Orange Butterfly and Blossom is just lovely. The colors are vibrant and I find the use of black on the wing edges to be very fetching. So pretty!

    696
  562. Wow! They are all beautiful but I agree with you, the red one is my favorite. I’ve never made anything so intricate. Hope I win one.

    697
  563. Hi Mary definitly the blue, It just stands out so beautiful i couldn’t keep my eyes of it.

    700
  564. Thank you Mary. You do the nicest things for your followers. I love the welcome spring but that Orange Butterfly & Blossom looks so much like the fall butterflies where I came from. Love the orange and dogwood.

    701
  565. Another great giveaway–Thanks Mary! It is said that “kids ask the darndest questions”, but you are a formidable rival!! The red butterfly with strawberries is terrific, especially since I signed up for the Vintage Garden class. However, blueberry shrubs (from the conservation district fundraiser) are maturing on our property in PA & we are hoping for a good crop this year. So I’m picking the blue butterfly to match our homegrown berries!

    704
  566. Love all 3 butterflies!!! But blue is my first choice! Thank you for doing this giveaway!
    Julia in Montreal 🙂

    705
  567. I love the red butterfly with strawberries, it’s a lovely design, and I have never actually seen a red butterfly, nor have I been brave enough to embroider a strawberry!
Thankyou for the chance to maybe do both.
    Rosemary,
    Adelaide, South Australia.

    706
  568. I am new to embroidery and would love to try the pretty blue butterfly. I have never done shading but would love to try it.
    Thank you

    707
  569. I like the Orange Butterfly and Blossom because orange is my favorite color. I use earth colors in much of my embroidery work, and orange seems to work its way into much of what I do. I have done only one piece of long and short stitch shading, but this would provide a lovely challange and learning experience for me.

    709
  570. They are such mini works of art!! I love how she uses other elements with the butterflies to bring out the shades and make them look alive. I adore strawberries so the red one has my eye. Not that the blue isn’t equally wonderful. Talk about hard to choose.

    710
  571. Mary, I would have to say the orange one because in my 1940s-era bathroom (which has white hexagonal floor tiles, orange-sponged walls, and black tile trim)I have a beautifully framed specimen collection of monarch butterfly friends on the wall above the euphemism. Wouldn’t Trish’s needlework butterfly be perfect?! And, I’m really anxious to add needlepainting to my embroidery skills. Thanks so much. Kristy from Maryland

    711
  572. Rayeesa Munshi from india – I am in love with The African Red Butterfly and its lovely strawberries Thanks for giveaway……….

    712
  573. What beautiful butterflies my favorite is the blue butterfly. These are truly beautiful and a wonderful combination of hand stitching and fabric painting combined.

    713
  574. I really like the Adonis blue although the African red is a close runner up.
The orange butterfly lacks the colour being introduced in another element, like the fruits in the other two. So I find it less interesting, although still lovely

    714
  575. The red butterfly is my favorite. Red is my favorite color and I love strawberries. I have been very tempted to order a Trish Burr kit, but have several projects I hope to finish first.

    715
  576. I love all three butterflies …strawberries, blueberries, orange blossom … oh, I’ll choose strawberries and red butterfly.
No, make that the orange blossom and orange/gold butterfly.
I love Trish’s products and admire her talent.

    716
  577. I think I like the blue butterfly the best and the red one comes in second. They are all just darling and would be excited to win one.

    Robin Marks

    717
  578. As much as I love blue, my favorite of these lovely butterflies is the fire orange. It just shouts spring, with the bright colors and the lovely dogwood blossom. Thank you for offering these kits so we can sharpen our long and short stitch skills.

    718
  579. I just love the Adonis Blue Butterfly…it is beautiful! All three butterflies are beautiful the colors are so vivid andI love the use of the flowers and strawberries each one would be so much fun to work on and have in my home

    719
  580. How difficult to chose one color…but the red butterfly is such a flaming red! Any butterfly would bring spring on the 38th floor in the middle of the desert where I actually live and it would take me on an embroidery path to explore as Mary wrote in one of her previous post when she encouraged each of us to learn a new skill. My tapestry is about to be finished, something I had never done before and this butterfly project would arrive just in time like spring after a long winter. Many thanks Mary for your generous website.
    A frog in the desert.

    721
  581. I’m torn. I like the blue butterfly best, but I love dogwood blossoms, so the orange one is calling to me, too.

    722
  582. Hi Mary,

It isn’t possible to chose a favourite – they are all beautiful but as red is my father’s favourite colour (and Mine) if push came to shove I would chose that one.

Thanks for the chance to win the kit and keep up the great work.

    Trish, Whangarei, NZ

    724
  583. Decisions, decisions. Both the red and blue are gorgeous but this time I’d have to go for the blue.

    [Miss] Kai’

    725
  584. They’re all so beautiful!! But I have to say the Blue one is calling to me. I love butterflies…always have. The funny thing is I’m not really a “blue” girl, but it’s so brilliant in the color. Thank you for a chance to win one of these beauties.

    726
  585. I would be very happy with any of the 3 kits. For me it was a tough choice between the Adonis Blue and the African Red. The strawberries were the deciding factor and I went with the African Red.
this would be a great opoortunity for me to improve my long an dshort stitching.

    727
  586. Oh how beautiful!! How can I choose?! I think the blue is my favourite; reminds me of the gorgeous Queensland butterflies we have here in Australia! Nothing better than going through a butterfly house and having the beautiful butterflies sitting on your arms so you can really appreciate the colours up close!

    728
  587. The blue is my favorite. I hesitated too long to get into the strawberry class. . . didn’t think I was good enough yet. My few attempts at “painting” are mixed, but predominately disappointing. Would love to try the butterfly.
the picture is so clear, it would help a lot. I look forward to your daily emails. You are talented AND efficient!

    729
  588. Hi Mary,
I just love the blue butterfly it just leaps of the page to me, the colour is fantastic. It reminds me of my favorite butterfly here in Queensland, the “Blue Ulysses” Butterfly from Dunk Island which is a stunning butterfly. I have been wanting a Trish Burr kit for sometime to get into thread painting with long and short stitch.
One of my daughters who knew this surprised me recently with a gift of 2 of Trish Burr’s books(Needle Painting Embroidery fresh ideas for beginners & Color Confidence for embroiders)for my birthday in December and Christmas. It blew me away.
It would be just wonderful to win one of these beautiful kits to start me on my way to learning and enjoying thread painting.

    731
  589. Hi Mary,
I love the red butterfly with strawberries. And thanks for this gorgeous giveaway. I wish I am able to get any one of those beauties!

    732
  590. These are so cute. Thanks for the opportunity to win this, though I have been trying to win them but no luck so far.

Anyway, my favorite is the Adonis blue butterfly. I like blue color a lot.

    733
  591. Since I live in Costa Rica, and I love butterflies, my favorite is the Adonis Blue. This one is common in CR although the wings are completely blue. I just bought two book on embroidering butterflies. It will be my next big project.

    735
  592. I LOVE the Adonis blue butterfly. Thank you for ALWAYS posting such beautiful and exciting things. I look forward to your email ALWAYS!!! It is my little bit of sunshine!! I hope to win so I can make this for a friend that will treasure this!!!!

    737
  593. I prefer the blue butterfly and would love to have the opportunity to work this beautiful design. It is my preference as it reminds me of visits to Tropical Queensland where this colour butterfly abounds.

    Jane G.

    739
  594. Oddly, I think the orange butterfly is my favorite. Odd because blue is actually my favorite color.

    740
  595. Hi Mary,
I discovered Trish Burr’s beautiful work on your website and have been using her books to teach myself the long and short technique. My favorite is the Orange Butterfly and Blossom. It reminds me of the Monarch’s that pass through my yard each Spring on their migration.
    Amy Mann

    744
  596. These kits are equally pretty and I would be overjoyed to win any one of them. Then, all I need is the time and skill… Once completed, I want to keep it for myself. Usually, any “stuff” I make is a present for family or friends; well not this time!!

    745
  597. What a tough choice to have to make! The colours and the floating effect just helped the blue butterfly nudge ahead of the others though.

    747
  598. I love the “Blue”. It is as if the midnight has turned to white and a beautiful blue butterfly floats across the fallen snow.

    Thank You,
    A. Laura Mudd

    749
  599. They are all so beautiful, but I think my fave would be the blue Adonis because of the blueberries…mmm, now I want to eat some!

    750
  600. My favourite one is the orange kit. Orange has always been my favourite colour, and this butterfly looks real!

    751
  601. All three of those kits are quite luscious, but I think I like the blue best. The colour is so saturated, it’s just so beautiful.

    752
  602. Oh the blue one is my favorite no doubts! It’s my very favorite colors! Even though I’m a beginner, I’m a determined little beginner! 🙂

    753
  603. I first heard of Trish Burr on your website..I bought her DVD and her book on Needle Painting Embroidery and have been stitching out the exercises in order as they appear…What a wonderful book…..Instruction easy to understand, with photos at every step and best of all everything you need on your open page…no jumping all over the place to find what you need. I am up to stitching flowers now and absolutely thrilled with my progress….my family think I am very clever.
I’d love to stitch the Red Butterfly with Strawberries. PLEASE.
Thanks again Mary for bringing this talented lady into my life.
DON’T YOU JUST LOVE THE INTERNET!!!!!!!!

    754
  604. I would so love to have the blue Adonis butterfly kit as I am so into blue and I like the layout of the design.

    756
  605. I just love the Orange Butterfly and Blossom as i think the vivid orange and red colours remind me of summer and sunsets and are just so gorgeous.
    Annette

    757
  606. Oooh- Which do I want -that gorgeous blue – we have Adonis Blue butterflies around here so that is the one I want. Or is it? That African Red – weell – I lived in Africa for many years so it would be a double reminder and oh the colour. Then that orange – its colours would go so well in my Mum’s bedroom. So if you choose me I don’t care which one – just give me one pleeeease.

    758
  607. So hard to choose – I like the blue butterfly. It looks like a butterfly that I have seen whilst on holidays in the Daintree rain forest in north Queensland. It is beautiful.

    759
  608. OH , they’re beautiful
    I love them all
perhaps one of them in my house???????!!!
thanks a lot for this giveaway
    have a good day

    761
  609. I’m with you Mary on choosing The African Red Butterfly. The colours are so rich and the butterfly looks so real. Fresh strawberries are a real sign of spring and summer fruit.

I can image the soft breeze from the butterflies wings as I eat the soft juicy fruit.

Crossing my fingers that I win this beautiful gift.

    Eva

    763
  610. Hard to pick. They are all so lovely. But, my favorite is the Blue Adonis, because it is so lifelike, with the 3-diminesional effect. It looks like it’s about to flutter away any minute. I also love the blue shading. Can’t wait to get started on that long and short shading technique!

    764
  611. Inny, menny, miny, Moe….I don’t know. Red is my passion, blue is so peaceful and orange so delightful…how shall I ever chose…okay orange….since I will be stepping outside my stitching comfort zone, I might as well step outsider my color comfort zone also.
Thanks for the chance to participate…you offer such great opportunities to step outside our comfort zones. Thank you…sue

    766
  612. The red butterfly is my favorite though it was difficult to make a choice since they’re all so beautiful. I love red and the strawberries pushed that one to the winning position.

    768
  613. I absolutely adore the Adonis Blue Butterfly and the way it appears to be gently sitting on the fabric as though a slight breeze will encourage it to take flight. I was gifted many years ago with a rather large shadow box filled with butterflies collected in South America and Africa — several are large blue beauties that simply glow very like this one from Trish Burr. It would be so wonderful to add her design to the collection I’ve already been gifted.

    769
  614. The blue is my favorite. I think it is so wonderful that Mother Nature has creatures of such intense color and people create wonderful artwork. Here in the northeast it is a bit colorless, except for cardinals, that this blue butterfly would be a welcome bit of brightness.

    770
  615. Hi Mary,
All three butterflies are beautiful, but I think my favourite is the orange blossom one. I love the change in colour from bright orange to the dark brown tips of the wings. Ever since Trish Burr has started those miniature kits, I’ve dreamt of getting my hands on one.

    771
  616. Hello Mary
It’s so difficult to choose one of these kits, I love so much the designs of Trish Burr. I think the one I prefer is the Adonis Blue Butterfly,I like the color blue,so shiny and I like white edge .
Thank you for this new give away.
    Severine

    772
  617. My mother, Martha Peditto, passed away 27 years ago and she remains in my heart to this day. Every time I am outside and think of her, I see a butterfly, and every time I see a butterfly, I think of her. Blue is a color she loved, so I choose the blue butterfly as my favorite. Thank you for allowing me to share my story.

    Jo-Ann Carroll

    773
  618. Oooooh! The Blue!

I absolutely adore the blue butterfly! And with the blue berries (probably not blueberries ;-), and what looks like a hellebore, oh, it’s just some of my favorite things.

By the way, how was your trip to Minnesota?

    774
  619. A tough choice — they are all beautiful. Since I have to pick just one, I choose the Adonis Blue Butterfly.

    775
  620. The blue butterfly is calling my name!!! My sweet mom loved butterflies. I have a great photo of her in the butterfly aviary at our Zoo. The butterfly landed on her head and it looked like she was wearing a beautiful fascinator! My mom has been gone now for three years and every time I see a butterfly I’m reminded how much I loved her and how much I miss her…

    776
  621. My favorite is the blue butterfly. The blue is so vibrant and electric! The blueberries look as though you can pluck them right off the fabric and eat them! : )

    777
  622. I took 2 classes in needle painting in Sept. in Oct, I suffered a retinal tear during cataract surgery and found myself unable to see at all with my right eye. Following additional surgery and some difficult and lengthy recovery, I have regained most of my vision.

I would love to have that beautiful red butterfly to initiate my re-entry into the world of embroidery and needlepainting

    778
  623. I think that as much as I love the red and blue butterflies, its the orange one that grabs my fancy. I can see it being just the right **pop** of colour in my lavender coloured bedroom.

    779
  624. Definitely the Orange Butterfly and Blossom-I think the Blossom looks like a Dogwood Tree Blossom.

    781
  625. The African Red Butterfly “speaks” to me!! it is so vibrant and alive looking it seems like it could just flap it’s wings and fly out of the stitching. they are all very beautifle though.

    782
  626. They are all delicious! I think my favourite would be the blue as it has such significance. My mother is from Nova Scotia. The butterfly uses what we call ‘Nova Scotia Blue’ and the image contains blueberries. My grandparents had a secluded waterfront home where on the front hill grew wild blueberries. Gorgeous!
I miss it still and this design brought back some very deep and sweet memories.
Thank you for the chance to win!
    Heather in Montreal, Cdn

    784
  627. I love the blue butterfly!

Last week we took a cruise vacation to islands in the Caribean. We took land tours at each of the islands. At St. Martin we visited a butterfly farm. While listening to the owner tell us all about butterfly’s, a huge beautiful blue butterfly landed on my husband’s shoulder. Blue is his favorite color so it was special to see a blue one so up close. It’s an experience I’ll never forget and your give-away reminds me of this special experience.

I would love even more to create on fabric the beautiful blue butterfly.

    785
  628. I love the orange butterfly. In Iowa we have an orange and black beauty. Yes, you can tell that I’m tired of winter. Stitching the piece would be a lift. Thanks

    786
  629. If I were really pressed, I suppose I would go for the orange butterfly: it has to be the prettiest – but then, the red one is really vibrant and the blue butterfly is just so beautiful… so hard to decide.
Thanks for the great give-away, I would so love to win one of them!

    787
  630. Oh, dear, Mary, you’re asking us to *choose*? How cruel. I’d have to pick the blue one, simply because I like blue. Or maybe I should pick the orange one because isn’t that a dogwood in the picture? The provincial flower of BC is the dogwood. Or the red, for the strawberries? I’m so confused! The, uhm, uhm…..the uhm…. how can I pick? I would love to do any one of them.

    788
  631. Hello Mary,
This is my first time entering one of your fabulous give-aways. The butterflies are all beautiful and I would love to try my hand at needlepainting. I would have to say that the red one is my favorite. Red has been my favorite color since early elementary school and I love strawberries.
    Wendy

    789
  632. The red Butterfly, as you say, is very red and the shading in the strawberries is wonderful
The Blue Butterfly is beautiful.Such a lovely shad of blue but for me it has to be the orange butterfly.I love the warmth of the colour and that little bit extra on the wings.
    Pam Paice Hampshire UK.

    791
  633. I think I have to vote for the Orange butterfly, but all three are simply gorgeous. Thanks for offering this giveaway 🙂 I hope I win

    792
  634. Hi! My favorite is the African red butterfly because the red colors are just gorgeous. I am starting to learn to learn how to do the long and short stitch and I think this kit would help me a lot. Thanks so much for your time in helping me learn these techniques. Have a wonderful day.

    793
  635. The Adonis Blue Butterfly is lovely! It reminds me of this wonderful Victorian book I have which shows different botanical illustrations with insects on them.

    794
  636. Hi Mary, Blue is my all time favorite color, so that would be my first choice. The red however totally grabs the eye. However, the orange I would do for my son as he is the only kid (now 23) I know that likes that color. I never liked orange till my sister did an orange quilt for him based on the sunset of his favorite surf spot. It is beautiful. Good luck to all.
    Jacquelin Ihsan

    796
  637. Ooohhhh…. I love Trish Burr’s things. I’m torn between the blue and red butterflies. Really, how could either go wrong?

I used to have a Blue Morpho butterfly in a shadow box that sadly got broken by my son, so I think blue will win.

    797
  638. Mary, you must see this. On Susan Elliott’s “Plays wirh Needles” blog for Jan. 28 is a picture of a gown that looks like you Hungarian redwork table runner.

    798
    1. Hi, Christine – I saw that! The Hungarian runner didn’t even come to mind, though – funny! It reminded me of two things: iron work (like fancy wrought-iron fencing) and paper cut designs. But yes, with the hearts and the little connectors and swirls, I can see what you mean now! ~MC

  639. Although I love everything with blue, I have to say the red is my favorite. I love the strawberries and the butterfly together. All three are really beautiful.

    799
  640. Mary, You are too, too generous -yet again!- for having another wonderful give away! Thank you!
My favorite butterfly pattern is the blue:
The blue butterfly reminds me of the gorgeous Blue Morph butterflies I have seen in Costa Rica. The blueberry reminds me of my daughter’s eyes: They are blueberry-violet in color.
    Thank you again, Mary!

    800
  641. How I hate choosing favourites but since I have to, I choose the Orange Butterfly and Blossom. The heated yellows and oranges of a glowing summer sunshine spring to mind. And with the snow and cold here in eastern Canada, I’ll take that heat to warm my fingers while I stitch.

    801
  642. They’re all beautiful. but I find myself looking at the orange, not only warm colors for this time of year but the dogwwod blossom to encourage thinking “spring”.
    Doreen from Maine

    802
  643. Hi Mary,
Just love your website, what a wonderful giveaway, the three butterflies are lovely but the blue one is the one for me.
    Thanks for sharing with us
    Joan T from Canada

    803
  644. Mary,

What a lovely giveaway! I really love the blue butterfly, as I have always loved the color cobalt blue.

It comes from my love of the ocean and a priceless gift from my grandpa – a hanging round piece of cobalt blue glass. I never knew where he got if from, but it is one of my treasured momentos from him.

    Hugs and Love,
    Jennifer H

    804
  645. I love, love, LOVE the Adonis Blue Butterfly. It has a 3d-ish look to it and the white outline helps it pop out even more.
Plus, blue happens to be my favorite color.

    807
  646. Hi there, thanks for the give-away!
The three kits are wonderful. I´ve always wanted to purchase one but the crisis in Spain has really had an effect on things and, well, it would be great to win one. I like all three, but since one has to choose, I like the blue butterfly best.
Once again, thank you, it will be so much fun to embroider this kit and share its fruits with friends and family.

    808
  647. I loved the Adonis Butterfly. This sounds likje a great kit. I am new to Threadweaving and love butterflies so would love to try it.

    810
  648. All three butterflies are beautiful, but if pressed for a choice, I would have to say the Orange Butterfly and Blossom is my favorite. Bright, fresh, and light!

    811
  649. The butterflies are beautiful and one of my favorite things to include in a needlework piece. All of the colors are beautiful and hard to select one. Since I have to select one, it will be the red butterfly because it includes strawberries which is one of my favorite foods. Tish’s designs are all beautidful and I would love working one.

    812
  650. Oooo….how to decide, they are all so lovely. I’m going to have to go with the orange one though.

    813
  651. I love the Adonis Blue. Blue is my favorite color. I have admired all Trish Burr for so long, but her kits are spendy. Winning this would give me an opportunity to own and work one.

    814
  652. I LOVE the blue butterfly the best, probably because it looks like it would really suit my “blue room”. Grovenore

    815
  653. I must be so late for this but oh how I would love a Trish Burr kit. The Blue butterfly would have to be the one. Since my marriage broke up 2 years ago butterflies have been very significant to me – a sign of hope and love.

  654. How am I meant to choose – they are all beautiful!!!
I think I’ll say the blue one as I love the colours merging from blue to white.

  655. Hi Mary,
I just love Trish Burr and her thread painting books and kits. I think her designs are spectacular and her sense of colour is very realistic.

These butterflies are all so beautiful and do remind me of spring and summer. Though normally a “blue” person, the African Red Butterfly with the strawberries is my first choice followed very closely by the Adonis Blue Butterfly, which really does look like its floating off the fabric. I would enjoy stitching either of these, if I were lucky enough to win either of them.

Thank you Mary for another give-away.

    821
  656. I like the African Red Butterfly though all of them are really beautiful! The strawberries complement the red butterfly and makes it all the more beautiful!

    822
  657. Hi Mary, I like the Adonis Butterfly the best. I like the combination of blues and the touch of grey on the edge – also the colours countours and crinkles of the roses with the olive greens just add to vivaciousness of the butterfly.
I love silk shading (or needlepainting) and this would be an ideal project for me to add to my skills in this technique while not being too big. I would love to win any of the three butterflies – they were difficult to choose between them

    825
  658. They are all lovely, but the Orange Butterfly and Blossom both look like they came right out of the Ozarks where I grew up.

    826
  659. I love the orange butterfly and blossom. I have many of these come to my buttrfly bushes. I love to watch them.

    827
  660. Love her work and am constantly amazed at the realistic work. I would be hard pressed to determine a favorite. I love them all and would enjoy stitching any one of the three butterflies.
    Susie Jarosz

    828
  661. I love the African Red Butterfly for several reasons. Red is my favorite color, I love and collect strawberry themed designs, and I view needlework as a true art form. I was an avid needleworker several decades ago, but had to let it go by the wayside as I was committed to a demanding law practice and raising two sons. Now that I am retired and have a 13 year old artistic granddaughter to teach, I am again deeply into this wonderful hobby.

    829
  662. I love all 3 of them — honestly. However, the African Red Butterfly kit is my favorite. The depth of the shade, and the beautiful contrast with the white strawberry flowers is lovely…

    832
  663. I love the blue butterfly. I’m obsessed with blue, as in EVERYTHING on my desk is blue. My husband doesn’t even question it anymore he just sees something I want, smiles and picks the blue one.

    833
  664. The Adonis Blue Butterly is my favorite, I love blue and this is a very spirited looking blue butterfly.

    835
  665. The blue butterfly is my favorite ~ but they are all so beautiful it was difficult to choose. The wings do look as though they are lifting right off the fabric. Besides, I love, really love, blueberries (that is what the flower and berries look like to me).

    836
  666. La di dah! What fabulous kits to win. The Orange one is what I’d like because the shading looks tricky, and if I could get that right, I’d have a beauty on my wall. 825 avid needle crafters vying for this…Good luck to all of us.

    837
  667. Although all the butterflies are beautiful, I particularly like the blue one.
I would love to see it in my garden amongst the flowers, but I would settle to see it on fabric. I would enjoy the challenge of having it come alive as an embroidery piece.

    838
  668. The orange one is my favorite. It reminds me of the butterflies in the garden when I was little. I’m not sure if they’re the same, though. I don’t think the real ones stayed still long enough for me to get more than a glimpse. The flower reminds me of dogwoods, also in my backyard while I was growing up. Amazing the kind of memories these kinds of things can bring up. Thank you for offering these up. They are truly beautiful kits :).

    839
  669. I would really like to improve my needlepainting skills, and I think that the Red African Butterfly would make a beautiful and inspiring companion towards my goal. Red is one of my favorite colors, and I love anything and everything with strawberries!

    840
  670. I LOVE the Red African Butterfly, it just pops off the page, and you think you can just eat that strawberry. They are all so beautiful. You can with option change the colors of the wings if need be. So SWEET. I want all 3

    841
  671. I love the African Red Butterfly, the colours are so vibrant and the strawberries complement and lift it.

    842
  672. The third one – Orange Butterfly and Blossom kit is my choice out of these, though all are lovely.

    843
  673. My favorite butterfly is the orange with the dogwood blossom. The orange (my favorite color!) reminds me of the arrival of the butterflies in the spring in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba when I was stationed there which meant it was safe to go back in the water without getting spores from the coral under your skin, and of course the dogwood signifying Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, a rebirth and “spring” for all of us.

    844
  674. They are all exquisite and I’d be thrilled to have any of them, but I’m w/you – the red butterfly is my favorite of the three. I’ve never even seen a picture of an all=red flying flower like that! I have seen vivid blue butterflies (the Blue Morpho, which is stunning).

    I’d be delighted to win!

    846
  675. I really like the red one with the strawberries! Thanks for the chance to win!

  676. Dear Mary
The Adonis Blue is adorable. Big thanks to You and Trish Burr. When I started to learn basic embroidery stitches I was introduced to “Needle ‘n Thread” and that week Trish Burr’s Book review came up. I was like Oh My God, is it painting or embroidery. Because I never knew there is something called “Needle Painting” exists until I read that review. I was stunned to see such a magic can be created with long and short stitches. I shared her works to my husband and told him that I must learn this art. Being an artist he was even more amazed with her selection of color and seamless shading. He gifted me “Needle Painting Embroidery – Fresh Ideas for Beginners” for my birthday. I am working on beginner’s projects and would love to surprise him with this lovely butterfly. He promised me to get “Colour Confidence in Embroidery” if I excel this art. Hope to get both gifts.

    848
  677. Absolutely no way to pick between the three – my favorite is the one I’m looking at…until I look at one of the others! Janet.

    849
  678. These are all lovely. My favourite is the African red – despite the brightness of the colour there is a subtlety to the shading that is exquisite. Thank you Trish for the inspiration.

    851
  679. I just discovered your site. It is fantastic. Watched a couple of tutitorials which are very helpful. Stick my name in the give away. Love doing needle craft. Wonder how they would work with the side threading needles?

    853
  680. Hi Mary, I Love the African Red Butterfly. The design is beautiful and I love the strawberries. I almost always embroider butterflies in any embroidery I do, as I am very partial to them.

    854
  681. I love the Adonis blue butterfly. When I owned a home in Savannh (we now live full time in a motorhome), I had a blueberry bush and a dogwood tree next to it. Although I never had blue butterflies, the blue reminds me of the blueberry bushes and I am sure the flower is a dogwood. Would love to be lucky enough to win that one
    Phyllis

    855
  682. The Adonis Blue Butterfly is my favorite. It is so very pretty and would be the best gift for my mom and a great way for me to improve my long and short stitch blending. Plus, blueberries are my favorite:)

    857
  683. Mary, I absolutely love the blue butterfly. It reminds me of my home in Pennsylvania and walking through the fields there on a beautiful sunny day. Now I am in Texas and have lots of beautiful “flutterbys” but never the beautiful blue. I would love to win and have my own special butterfly. Love, love, love your site. I am fairly a new embroiderer and without your site I whould have no clue how to do any stitches except the very basic. Thanks for all your help.
    Donna

    858
  684. Saleemah from NYC – I really like the blue butterfly (Adonis) as I don’t think I’ver ever seen a blue butterfly actually flying around. I’ve seen them in Butterfly Exhibits and books only.

    Thanks Mary and Trish!

    859
  685. Hello Mary,

Thanks for the giveaway. All the butterflies are beautiful but I favor the orange one probably because it is my favorite color.

    860
  686. Wow, look at the number of comments, what chance do I have in winning?? The blue butterfly is so very pretty, and looks like a wonderful challenge to do. Thank you providing such wonderful give aways.

    Techiya

    861
  687. Wow, that’s a hard, hard question!

I think the blue is my favourite, because blue, but really they are all wonderful. The orange seems to float off the screen, and the strawberries! So yeah, I love them all 🙂

Thank you, Mary & Trish for the hard work!

    862
  688. How to choose between those 3 beautiful kits? But if I must, then I would choose the Orange Butterfly & Blossom. I’ve never tried needle painting and from what I see they are intermediate level kits, but I would so love to give it a try. Trish Burr is truly an artist.

    863
  689. I love the orange butterfly. There should be a better-reasoned-reasoning, but the truth is that the colors in this one make me happy.

    864
  690. My favourite is the red butterfly with the strawberries. It reminds me of over 40 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. I could not get enough stawberries. I can still see myself picking strawberries sat in a stawberry field in England they tasted so good.I think I ate more strawberries than I put in the basket. My son arrived and his favourite colour all of his life has been Red so the kit would have special meaning for me. Plus we have just bought a new home and it would look lovely on any wall in the house.

    865
  691. Hi Mary,
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
I love long-and- short embroidery and these kits are the stuff my dreams are made of! I especially loved the Orange Butterfly and Blossom- hope this one flits across the seas to me!

    866
  692. Shelagh 7Y UK – My favourite has to be the Blue Butterfly. The colour is so vibrant, without being ‘loud’ – and there is the added bonus of having a curled petal to the flower, which is something I need to practice.

    867
  693. Dear Mary,
Thank you for this wounderful place. I have recognized it just few days ago.
    It is a long way…
    I like red Butterfly.
    Butterfly, oh Butterfly
be my friend and take me to the sky!!
    Anna

    868
  694. Since blue is my favourite colour, I’d have to go with the Adonis Blue …. but it’s pretty hard to choose since they’re ALL beautiful.

    869
  695. The African Red Butterfly is absolutely stunning. The combination of color and design is perfect. Im unfamiliar with Trish Burr kits however I would love to try this. I did some butterflies last winter for gift bag give-aways and it was very fun.

    870
  696. It’s such a difficult question!

But I think my favorite is the blue one. I just love those deep shades of blue, and the little whole blossoms go well with it, too.

    871
  697. I just started embroiderying–in fact I took a class last Thursday (Jan 24th). I have been looking through some of your projects & they look fabulous. How long have you been doing this? I have started a couple of projects & cannot seem to put them down until I get them finished. I think I have the bug–just like when I started quilting.

    872
  698. I really like the Adonis Blue. I really like the blue contrast with the black.

    Mary in Oregon

    873
  699. I love the red butterfly, if I must choose one. It is gorgeous against the backdrop of the strawberries. They are all beautiful–I love any embroidered creatures with wings and flowers!

    875
  700. I love all of the projects that Trish makes but my eye goes to the Orange blossom. I would love to do just one of her pictures. They are beautiful.

    876
  701. I’m in California now, and the orange one isn’t *exactly* like a Monarch, but it’s the right colors….

    877
  702. I love the orange butterfly with the blossom. I recently discovered Trish Burr’s website and am really excited about the possibility of winning an embroidery kit. I have been doing cross stitch for 40 years and I have only recently discovered needle painting.

    878
  703. I love the Adonis Blue Butterfly. Something about the colors just draw me into the picture.

    879
  704. Dear Mary,
I love all three of Trish Burr’s butterfly designs but my favourit would have to be the blue one. I love the deep rich blue of its wings and the greenery around it. blue has always been a favourite with me
    Regards Marion

    880
  705. What a decision to have to make, such lovely torture!!

First I thought the blue one, then I thought the orange one, then I fell in love with the strawberries!!

So, my answer, TOO HARD TO CHOOSE!!

    🙂

I have admired Trish’s work for many years, she is a very talented lady

    881
  706. I like the orange butterfly. My mom loves everything butterfly. It would be fun to stitch it for her.

    882
  707. The Adonis Blue Butterfly is my favourite. The colours are so vibrant and really catch my eye. The butterfly is beautifully shaded – I am in awe. The colours remind me of the Ulysses butterfly in Australia which is a similar colouring. I would love to be able to stitch something so beautiful. Tania from Townsville

    884
  708. It’s difficult to choose, but I love blue, so I think I like the blue butterfly the best. And it’s hard to resist the Blue Adonis name, too. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win one of these lovely kits.
    Kathy in Missouri

    885
  709. The blue butterfly is my favorite. I particularly like the way the shading is done on it. I want to learn to do shading and this butterfly looks like it would be good way to learn.

    886
  710. Hi Mary,

I may be having some “Winter Blues” but blue is still my favorite color so that is my favorite butterfly. Another chance at winning something from you is great but please know that we out here in cyber land are always the winner with your sharing of your needlework skills and passion.
    Thanks so very much

    887
  711. Mary,
Thanks to Trish for this great giveaway! I think my favorite is yours…love the red & the strawberries. This would be a great way to practice what I learned in your online class some time ago. And, it would be a great birthday gift (mine is Feb 2nd)! Thanks, Sheila from CA

    888
  712. Butterflies are so pretty and so is this chance to win one of these kits. The African Red Butterfly is my choice.

I am from India I hope you are taking international entries too!

    Thank you.

    889
  713. Good morning,Mary.
I own a Trisha Burr needle painting book. I have been spending many winter days practicing the shading technique. I love these beautiful birds mainly because her designs are so inspiring. The blue butterfly is my favorite.
    Barbara Forrestall

    890
  714. Hi Mary,
I love the African Red Butterfly. My favorite color is red and the butterfly, strawberries and the white flowers are a gorgeous mix. All 3 of the butterflies are beautiful though. I have wanted to learn needlepainting but have not yet done so.
I love your daily column – Thank you for what you do.
    Diane from New Hampshire

    891
  715. Mary – I eagerly look forward to your blog each day, and have greatly improved my enthusiam and knowledge for surface stitching! I have subscribed to Inspirations Magazine for many years (I now own ALL the issues, except #1), and have worked many patterns from the magazine. I have even designed my own Iowa Rose pattern, using the needle painting technique. However, I haven’t stitched any designs from Trish Burr – I would love to work on any of her designs – they are so beautiful!!

    892
  716. Thanks for this opportunity. My favorite is the Adonis blue butterfly. It would be really, really great to be able to buy these Trish Burr kits in the USA. Helen

    894
  717. What an inspiration Trish is! I immediately downloaded a free pdf from her website–a gorgeous flower with all the directions, etc.
I like the red one the best, too. My birthday is in June–the Native American “Strawberry Moon”. I notice she has an Azure butterfly on her site, also.

    896
  718. Oh! I’m in love!!! Those are absolutely exquisite, and I would be thrilled for the chance to make one. I’m a new follower of your blog and an avid quilter who has recently re-discovered the joys of embroidery, and butterflies are a favorite. I currently have 2 butterfly quilt projects planned for the near future! I would love to make one of these for my mother who has loved them all of her life – she’s special, and this would be a special hand-made gift from me to her :*) As to color… hmmmm…. my favorite is always blue, but that red is really catching my eye and I know it would be Mom’s favorite! They are all so lovely, so I would just be thrilled to win, no matter the color!

    897
  719. Love the blue one, such a pretty blue. Love Trish Burr, I think she took needlework to a whole another level.

    898
  720. I love these three, especially the orange one – possibly because my latest big project had a lot of orange in it! 🙂 I’ve found myself buying orange clothes as well since working on this canvas piece!

Next up Goldwork, so I maybe wearing gold lame in the spring! 🙂

    902
  721. Hi, one of my goals this year is to practice and become more skilled in long and short stitch so when I saw your giveaway I just had to give it a try. The red butterfly is also my favorite. I love this color of red it is so rich.
    Thanks for this opportunity.

    Laurie

    903
  722. All three are beautiful but my favorite is the almost-Monarch butterfly with a dogwood blossom. Such lovely designs and colors makes for a difficult choice! Thanks for sharing, Mary.

    904
  723. What a great give-away! Thank you, Mary 🙂 I was dreaming about Trish Burr kit for a long time. My favorite is Adonis Blue Butterfly. But it was so difficult to chose only one. I like this ones colours the most.

    905
  724. I love to do Embroidery a lot and learnt by your website ….
i really wanted one of these …

    regards
    Nausheen Saleem

    906
  725. It was a tie between the blue and the red. I too like 3D effect on the blue butterfly, but nice details and finish of the red one a little bit more. So at the end it is the red one and strawberries.

    907
  726. This would be just wonderful to win….we are off on a two month camping trip soon. would love to have in my kit of hand work to take with me.
    Cheers Tanya (Australia)

    908
  727. I just discovered your site and to think there is a ‘give away’ …how neat. I love all of them but given a choice must go with the red, followed by the orange and finally the blue one!!
Am off to explore the site and see what other goodies you have explored!!
    Victoria

    909
  728. That is a hard choice! I nearly always pick blue and it does have that beautiful cobalt colour one of my favourites. But…. I would have to say that the African Red Butterfly would be my choice of these. I love the strawberry flowers and fruit. Many thanks

    910
  729. Hello Mary,

    You do have great give-aways.
The blue butterfly is my favorite. I have wanted to try a Trish Burr kit – her kits are beautiful.

    Thank you!

    911
  730. Rita Smith from Hiawatha, KS. I love the red butterfly with the strawberries. I just found out this morning that my breast biopsy came back atypical and I have to have another biopsy surgery in March. This would definitely take my mind off of what is happening with me. They are all beautiful kits!!!!

    912
  731. Yes,the Blue butterfly does appear to have floating wings.I love the illusion it presents. I also noticed the blueberries and how realistic the appear. Thanks for the chance of this great give-away!

    913
  732. Dear Mary. All the butterflies are beautiful. I would choose the black and orange ne because of the dogwood which reminds me of when I used to live in Georgia. Linda

    914
  733. Those are all so beautiful…but I believe the orange butterfly and blossom is my favorite. (I’m partial to Dogwoods!)

    915
  734. Hi Mary,
thanks for another wonderful give-a-way. I love Trish Burr’s designs although I have never owned one. For me the red butterfly with the luscious strawberries just pings right out at me, it’s so colourful and bright.
    Fingers crossed!

    916
  735. I am instantly drawn to the Adonis Blue butterfly. It just makes me happy and calm. I can only imagine creating something that beautiful.

    917
  736. You want me to decide which one is the best? Hmm, the orange, no the blue, wait the red. Dang it I love them all. Can’t decide, all 3 are beautiful.

    919
  737. Wow, I really like the Adonis Blue Butterfly. It’s so fresh and bright. Imagine seeing it in your garden against all the yellows and oranges! I also like the white blossoms which don’t compete with the beautiful blues of the butterfly. All of the needleworks shown are beautiful and anyone would be lucky to receive one of them.

    Thanx for the opportunity!

    Regards
    Ann Garrad, Canada

    920
  738. I’d have to say the red butterfly is my favorite – it positively glows! The blue butterfly is an extremely close second though. Thank you for the chance to win a fantastic kit from a truly talented artist like Trish Burr!

    921
  739. Those are lovely! After deliberating some time, I will pick my favorite: Orange Butterfly & Blossom! Thanks!

    922
  740. Thanks so very much to you and Trish for giving us the possibility of stitching a beautiful butterfly. I think they are all lovely and worth taking the time to stitch. The red butterfly is my favorite, and the strawberries are a reminder that Spring is just around the corner. I wish that we had red butterflies where I live, but a beautiful stitched one is the next best thing. I can even imagine having a collection of stitched butterflies. Hmmm…

    923
  741. Hello Mary,

I just love your site. I have learned so many wonderful things and have been able to start my girls on little projects as well. I love the orange butterfly. It reminds me of the passion I finally have in my life after a much much too long period. It’s beautiful and the butterfly is too.

Thank you for all your hard work,
    Happy Michelle in Indiana

    924
  742. I Love the Adonis Blue butterfly- it just seems nearly 3D! My sisters-in-law and I are always competing with each other for the nicest needle-work projects.. I really think I can take ‘grand prize’ away from her with this one! I really WANT that family trophy this time! =) Thanks for picking me!!

    925
  743. It’s really too hard to decide on my favorite one! They are all beautiful with their bright, rich colors! I would love to stitch any of them. If I must choose, I would pick the red one. The strawberries on it are a great touch.

    926
  744. The blue butterfly is definitely my favorite! It actually reminds me of the way I used to color in butterflies when I was a child. One day I figured out how to shade with crayons and from then on everything I colored looked just like that butterfly! I’d love to now be able to accomplish the same with my needlework. Thanks for all the great inspiration!

  745. Alright I am late in sending this out. I just wanted to let you know I liked the African Red Butterfly the best. February is Heart Month or wear red month. I am a woman who has and lives with both heart disease and breast cancer (I did everything on my own because I do not have any family) I can see the Red Butterfly as a sign of getting and staying strong. I do have an idea could this butterfly be designed so it could be worn as a pin? I love butterfly one of things that I am doing is getting back into needlework. Yes all of the butterfly’s shown here are wonderful. Carole AKA Epona
